But at least Nick Meyer had bloody good taste in composers. He chose James Horner for Trek 2, and Cliff Eidelman for Trek 6 (still one of the best Trek scores made).
Regardless of whether he had been a fan or not before, he actually "got" trek, you can see from the way he utilised each character sufficiently, and gave action, plot and the kitchen sink thrown in.
JJ Abrams's Trek 09 and Trek ITD are just CGI fests, and have thrown out the science and exploration morals of the original series into the dump!
If anything, Michael Giachinno is a hack, rubbish scores for both the Abram trek movies, how the hell people call that Trek worthy is embarrasing to be honest!
