Fellow RPF members,
As a staff, our primary responsibility is to provide the best platform possible for our members to share their passion for movies, television shows and other entertainment media. It is incredibly important to us that you have a great experience here at RPF so we are constantly looking for ways in which we can improve that experience.
In the past 6 months we have seen incredible growth and with that growth has come greater strain on our hosting service. As part of our commitment to providing great a great experience for you, over the weekend, we moved to a more robust server solution which will provide scalable resources not only for our current needs but also for our needs in the foreseeable future.
As with most upgrades, more resources means more cost. In the past this site has either been funded privately or via donation drives. As we move forward and as operating costs continue to climb, we are looking to more sustainable models to raise revenue. Our affiliate and ad programs have worked well in the past and as you can see we have now expanded them to include two new areas: Google Adsense and Weta’s Affiliate program.
We are very excited to be able to participate in these programs because they mean we won’t have to resort to begging the members for donations, especially in these tough economic times.
