Who is darth Vader to YOU? Jones, Prowse, Christensen?

Yeah, to maintain some consistency, the actors' playing Anakin should have studied Prowse's movements as Vader, as well as having had JEJ as a dialogue coach, so they'd learn to speak like him - like JGL did with Bruce Willis in Looper - trying to match a performance.

... Perhaps that is why Anakin was such a hard pill for many fans to swallow, given the lack of aesthetic connection that Hayden had to the Vader persona. He didn't speak or move like him at all, thus the disconnect (at least for me).

When I try to imagine Vader saying just about any of Hayden's dialogue, I cringe. I personally think that Hayden evolved to become Chad Vader and Darth Vader was someone else entirely. :p

I agree. This is the main reason I really did not enjoy the prequel trilogy. There was definitely a huge disconnect in the way Christensen portrayed Anakin that made it dis-believable that he could turn into the Darth Vader we know in the original trilogy. There was just no logical way for me to make the jump from Christensen's Anakin to Vader.

As a costumes person, I vote for none of the above. Ralph McQuarrie, the character designer has my vote. Without him, all of Star Wars would probably have looked really different. He created some of the most iconic costumes and creatures in pop culture.

:rolleyes
I guess you missed the part in this thread where this was addressed and we are looking for which ACTOR that played Vader.

In episode 7, Obi Wan's ghost confesses to Anakins ghost that he knocked up Padme.
In episode 8, Yoda's ghost admits he hooked up with Shmi.
After all those "certain points of view" Anakin goes back to being ghost Vader in episode 9.

Lol

I must have missed those parts.

No. Obi-Wan very clearly describes Anakin throughout the OT to Luke. There is just NOTHING of that in the Anakin shown in the PT. Nothing. Nada. You don't see the fall of a great man and a great friend. You see the fall of a selfish, whiny, mass-murdering brat, who doesn't deserve any redemption.

Don't forget HORRID actor...you forgot HORRID actor

Although I wouldn't call Hayden a "good" actor he's far from horrid. The material killed it more than anything else.

Everything I have seen him in he is just bad. His timing always seems to be off and it's like he is just reading his lines instead of actually acting.

Might as well have put Anakin in the armour and helmet, in the final ghost scene, as have Haydn in there.

It makes no sense whatsoever. Anakin was Darth Vader before he had the suit. Darth Vader became 'good' Anakin again the moment he decided to kill the Emperor. And he was wearing the suit.

So either have Shaw in Jedi robes as the ghost, or Anakin in 'Darth Vader' garb as the ghost.

There is no justification or sense whatsoever, in terms of story, for having the young prequel actor in there.

One of the most annoying changes made to to the OT, that and han "defending" himself against greedo
