Step up in front of the class, show us what you made and who you made it for. Pictures and story. No pictures, no story. Not pictures from the movies either. Who are the RPF heavy hitters (weight doesn't count)?

Until VERY recently I didn't take pics of my props for here let alone ones I've done for film. Was always too busy working on the project! :lol

Didn't make, just slightly modded a back pack for TV series of Flipper.

About 14 years ago I scored a part as an extra in the TV series of Flipper being shot on the Gold Coast. Everything we had to wear came from wardrobe except the back pack I am wearing in the boarding scene (episode 3) which was my own.

The olive drab back pack (now discontinued from "Packlite") had a huge logo embroidered on the main flap at the back, and it was almost not allowed onto set because of this. So I ended up strapping a matching bum bag (what you guys call a Fanny pack) with a much smaller logo across the main logo and the assistant director thought it looked cool because of the all the extra detail it now seemed to have. So after stuffing a pillow inside, I was allowed to wear it on set for the shoot.

The part that bugs me about this is that pack disappeared about 12 months ago and I can't for the life of me remember what I did with it or where it might be today.

This is a black version of the bag I owned.

So that was my only genuine screen used prop that I had a hand in making!

In best Gollum voice "LOST!" :$

For the second through 4th season of Smallville, I made props supplied to John Glover that were popped on the screen to then be auctioned off for charity. The desk unit that held the spaceship disk were made by me as well some paper props and the pins save the cave and Lex for senate. I had sent in a few props from Steve Kirk as well replicaprops.com of the RPF at the time that got air time so they could be auctioned off for charity as well.

Disney has ordered a few of my ocular glasses for display along with the DoI documents. Not screen used but on display in the parks.

I don´t build props, I plan and coordinate set construction :sleep

Okay, I also build props and do paper prop and graphics work if the job calls for it :p

Well, if we're counting theme parks, I made the Han in carbonite side panels used on the full size prop displayed at Hollywood Studios outside the new get-yourself-carbonited location.

All I've built is a Luke ANH sabre and ANH E-11, both from PVC. Pics of the blaster are long gone tho...

Edit. Ahhh, misunderstood the question, move along, move along...

I think the question is not worded correctly. I'm asking if you built something for the movie studios, for the movie, not from the movie.

Most recent would be a German WW2 Stalingrad photo album for Straw Dogs (the remake). They found me because I handwrite in Sutterlin script which is the style most Germans wrote at that period. I write that way because of the aforementioned museum & reenactor jobs made it a requirement.

Do commercials count?

After I built my M8 Avenger from Mass Effect, the guys from BioWare dropped me an email to see if I would be interested in working on stuff for Mass Effect 3. I made an N7 Valkyrie in about 2 weeks that was shown at SDCC in the "BioWare base" and also featured pretty heavily in all their streaming coverage of the event.

About 2 months later, I was asked to pull 4 raw castings of this rifle for shipment to Prague for a filming of a Mass Effect 3 live action commercial, eventually aired during The Walking Dead a few months ago. I didn't paint these pieces, but I did send along the decal kits as well as references from my own builds on how they should be finished. The scope is something that the filming studio added on set.

Just correct the U - brackets.

As a matter of fact, I have these pics laying around and the movie's been out for a long time now so I suppose I can post them:

From the set of Straw Dogs. All three albums are completely filled out and seen in the film but these are the best pics I've got.

I've been in the Film Industry since 1995 so there's quite a few projects I've worked on over the years, first 12 years were spent doing Animatronics and now I specialise in Special Effects for Neil Corbould Ltd here in the UK. Over the years I've worked on the Oompa Loompa's for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Puppies and Parrot for 102 Dalmatians, the monster for Loch Ness, Chimps for Babe Pig in the City, Kangaroos for Kangaroo Jack and more recently Clash of the Titans, War Horse and Snow White and the Huntsman.

My favourite projects so far were to design and build an accurate "all steel" working replica of a Mark IV WWI tank for Spielberg's War Horse and a full size fully working medieval Trebuchet for Snow White and the Huntsman:

More projects are in the pipeline but haven't been released yet.

When I used to work in the mobile phone industry, I supplied a customised mobile phone that was used in an Australian insurance commercial.

But I also have an "almost" moment, a friend of a friend at the time worked for Warner Studios in Australia and got in touch with me to source 6 or 7 mobile phones for a movie and needed some quotes. They needed to be futuristic and they wanted the Nokia 8810 (remember the really small ultra expensive chrome slide phones), They then told me that these were too small and too expensive and that they had decided to go with the Nokia 8110. And then of course we saw these in The Matrix which was of course filmed in Australia. So an "almost" moment.
