Which Latex To Use?

Hello everyone,

Have watched the forum for some time now and decided rather than buying the cheap sets I will make one as previously asked around for someone to make one but always fell short.

I have purchased the MR.Incredible Suit and I am wondering what is the best latex to coat the suit in?

Also how many litres would anticipated to be required?

Many Thanks,

Chris

First of all, welcome to the Lair! Check out the introduction thread and tell us about yourself. The latex your looking for is RD-407, or "casting latex" http://www.monstermakers.com/product/RD407-Mask-Latex-for-Halloween-Masks-and-Props.html. There are a few different places to get it, but you really can't go wrong with The Monster Makers. You could also check locally to see if there's any suppliers local to you. A gallon will give you enough to do your suit, with a little left over for anything else you want to do. If you order from them, I also suggest getting some latex colorant to help cut the color of the suit. There's a ton of great info here, best thing to do is use the search and do ALLOT of reading. Hope this helps!

I used one i found on ebay, it says moldmaking latex but its the same thing, ive seen they use monstersmakers a lot

Depending upon where you are located, I find that the slip casting latex from Frend's carries the best price. That is what I usually go with. The Monster Makers latex has some bizarre qualities to it. You can also use Balloon Rubber for something stronger. I like it because it soaks in better, but because it has no filler is it very thin.
