Where, who and how much - ANH Vader and capes for trooping

Hey everyone,

Being a collector, and too bloody short to do an ANH Vader, I'm just wondering who here sells good suits and capes for trooping? This is for a friend of mine and he's so close to Prowse' size it's freaky.

Any help would be much appreciated, PMs or posts welcome :)

Cheers,

Kraig

EDIT: this is not a guaranteed sale, he's just shown interest and I want to pounce on it, get him motivated, a good price, and get him out there trooping.

Both Kevin and TMP are great choices. I was very close to acquiring a set from Kev, but my money is tied up on another project at the moment.:cry

I got mine from Lucas Alveraz, he now offers a 3 piece suit like the movie one and his capes are good for trooping. I don't know enough about Vader to say if they are as accurate as the ones already listed, but they are the ones I use.

yeah LA does good work too on suits and capesets.

i have his leather suit, and its great, cool, and i dont hardly break a sweat in 5 hours wearing it.

I got a ANH cape set ready to go in the sizerange your reffering to.
It has the ANH split from the waist and down.

My set came from Lucas as well. However, now the meshing on the back of the suit is starting to pull away from the zipper. Anybody else have this problem? I have no idea how to fix it without replacing all the mesh.

nope, mines still perfect shape. if it were me, i would use a patch of material, and if its pulled away, or not quite yet pulled away, just sew a material patch, or leather patch in that area, to reinforce that spot.

it can be done on a regualr sewing machine, with a leather needle, as thats what i did to put in the buttonhole slots in front for the chestbox straps to go inside.

so sewing in a reinforcement patch should be pretty easy to accomplish.

The problem is there's really not much there to sew it to. THe mesh is pretty open. I'm not sure sewing anything to it would hold. Right now it's on a mannequin so it doesn't really matter but if I ever want to wear it again I may have to replace the back.

what you do is make 2 patches and sandwich the mesh and edge of zipper material between them and sew it down, it WILL work.

you have a patch on either side with the mesh and zipper edg in the middle, and sew around the perimeter and make a diagonal cross stitch.

that catches the mesh securely between the patches.

From what I understand all his new suits are the 3 piece movie design anyways, if someone was looking to buy a new set from him and start a costume. I don't think the new suits have the mesh.

When I bought mine, I sent him a ton of the Kermit-getting-dressed photos because I wanted him to see the stitching and such. It was very soon after he started making the 3 piece suits.

I have a ANH style leather Vader jumpsuit from Lucas A. and its well worth the money. Great communication and product. Not to mention the price was right for me. Nice guy to deal with:thumbsup He will be the one i go to for the cape and robes as well.

he still does the 1 piece, but your right, the 3 piece has NO mesh panels.

a different material like what TMP uses in places where you dont see anything.

i dont know what LA's 3 piece suits are like, but if he does the same craftmanship like his 1 piece suits are, they should be a great suit for the price he sells them for.
