^ grinding/shaping by hand... pretty nice man!
The first one i did was completely by hand and it was ok but I figured it could be better so I had the outside shape machine cut. I had to put the blade edge and round the bottom of the blade by hand.

I realized recently that I don't post much around here, but that doesn't mean I'm not busy tinkering around with stuff. So I thought I'd post up some projects that I've been working on as time allows. It's tough traveling for work for extended periods of time and not being able to really sit down and put things together. (Also, this may be a subtle hint to my Secret Santa who I think might be scratching their head right about now ;))

Anyhow. I've been tending to do a lot of custom builds. recently I have a box right now with about 3 lightsabers worth of bits. I've also been putting together 2 blade runner inspired blasters, one of which I've been updating my slow progress on over at PropSummit. The other is closer to the design of the gun used in the live action Deathnote I really dug the design and decided to try my hand at building something similar still looking for some appropriate greeblies to add to it. I tried my hand at hand carving some wood grips for it, but I'm not totally satisfied with how they turned out. I'd like to find someone who would be in casting amber resin copies of what came with it. There's also my unfinished Denix mauser which I'd like to do as a Greedo Killer, I have an old M3 Flash hider and Corellian Exports grill but not the scope or mount.

I wish I had pictures to post, but like I mentioned earlier I'm currently away and don't have any saved on my laptop.

Keep up the good work!

Just started a thread on it! I’m binding a book in Aurebesh. I, Jedi from Michael Stackpole.

Okay, I’ll throw in on this. Just took a couple of pictures yesterday because I had made some good progress. First, a Yoda VD saber built on a Bolsey, just need foam for grips.

Next Trooper Trent’s new control box for the Holiday Special.

And the most exciting piece, Greedo’s blaster just needs weathering.

Not pictured is a beautiful satin black X-wing cockpit Graflite about to get decals. (I just need one more day of good weather for spray painting the clamps.)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I’m working (very slowly) on a thermal detonator, I’m put off as the steel ball I used is made from material that is a lot thinner than I was expecting, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to etch in the grooves. I may need to buy new hemispheres, I’ll press on with it for now.

after that I have a Corran Horn inspired saber out of junk/car parts that I have all the pieces for.

then a sith lightsaber stand with lava, but my 1st attempt at making a statue that could support the saber failed, so I need proper armature wire.

other planned projects a bit further off will be a brass sith holocron, scratch built Rey’s blast in aluminium, Jedi homing beacon also in aluminium, old republic cross guard saber, photon crystal chamber,

I’ve basically got an ever growing list of builds and never enough time to get them done, before coming up with new ideas

A true “one-day build” and the easiest—and cheapest—build I’ve ever done.

$15 for a Rubies “Leia Blaster”
$8 for rubber bump-ons
$18 for a 3D printed barrel extension
Spare Field Marshall Reade model heat sink greeblies.

A few minutes with a hobby saw, followed by sandpaper, putty, primer and rattle can paint...

Vader ROTJ Stunt in its Original ESB Stunt Incarnation Build.

This weekend I started on a sort of “best guess” of what the Vader ROTJ Stunt saber must have started life as, back when it was an ESB Stunt Saber.

The base is a vintage Graflex top with the appropriate amount of wear. The bottom with be an “aged” replica bottom. I’ll be using some of Roy’s new DV Stunt Kit (core, bolts, etc) as well as parts from Roman and Slothfurnace.

So far, all that I’ve done is age the clamp band and remove the bunny ears. I haven’t yet gotten to the side bars and lever. As you can see, I’m using the clamp from the Kenobi / Skywalker Stunt V3 Stunt Saber as the band…this will be pop riveted to an internal core, as seen in other stunt examples. The bunny ears will remain removed. Low profile grips will installed along with the other remaining ESB details.

Part of the story I am intending to tell with this ESB Stunt Saber build is that the clamp was later removed and harvested for the Skywalker V3 in ROTJ and the remaining Graflex top and bottom were slapped together to create the famous ROTJ Vader Stunt Saber.
