2 of them :cool

Sometimes were lucky enough to see some great builds in this bobby, and sometime we're even luckier to share some time comparing the hows and why's. Today was a great day to snap some awesome shots of Lee's and My Rogue 2 builds together and chew the fat and more. How cool is it to see a small Fleet of Speeders, Phil......your next mate we must get some shots of all Three bud it was so cool to see them together and really interesting to see the differences and similarities.

As with the Probe Droids here's some shots of them hand in hand being all snowspeedery and just plain ACE!!!!! If you Don't Like speeders then don't scroll down :D

Is it odd that I was making snowspeeder engine noises in my head when I was looking at these pictures?

I love those. Almost like an "as first built" and "how it looks now" with the hue differences - great takes on the same model.

Cheers Jason, yeh and we both used very similar colours as our base coat, I went off the known beaten track slightly and tried things I've not done before to see how it ended up...mixed results but well happy with it and I think its stopped darkening now. I wouldn't want to paint another for a while but looking forward to getting ready to painting a 20 inch X-wing wing tonight :)

I have to say photography and the eye are like chalk and cheese, to the eye Lee's looks slightly darker and mine Less warm, but quite warm, in daylight its a lot closer to the colour lee got but lighter and under house lighting the just go in all directions. This is the first paint job I've done were I intensionally mixed the base coat a lot lighter than I wanted to see how it looked a few weeks later, def a good technique when using Tamiya acrylics over a black base coat....I love learning.

I also learnt to stop pissing around with misting till I've done the hole ship, I had a nightmare matching the canopy and barrels to my some what tampered with base coat on the hull!!!!

I used a Royal Navy grey with flat white at about 65-70% white in the mix, then spritzed it about 4 times with very thinned Brown artist acrylics, leaving it on for about 30 secs each time then dabbing it dry..great results but would do it less if I did it again. Its misted with the 3 panel colours also but that ended up being pretty pointless to a degree (stop it Guy)

Its also a part time hairdresser, loves swimming and horses and wants to own its own Camel farm one day. 36- 24 -36 with no kids :)

Are both canopies the reworked ones or just Lee's? The canopy on that one looks a bit more true to the prop. I'm thinking Guy's canopy might be the kit one. It sure makes a difference to get that meaner looking canopy on there!

Yup Cymbal stands, PERFECT for studio models, both for working on and displaying, sturdy too, and leaps over the now ugly flat Panavise things that sellers in the US try to fist you on shipping for.
Yes both canopies are re worked, mine from an MR pattern, Guys, his own eyeballing, and it looks nothing like the kit one lol, maybe build something and open and eye or two, you'll learn a lot!

Well I love speeders, and now I love em even more! Thanks guys, incredible beautiful work there!

Thanks Jake, it was a fun paint up, kinda gutted my paint darkened so much over time, its a lesson learned though for those working in Tamiya acrylics, always, mix it lighter than you intended, even more so over black undercoats, something ill need to bring my A game on the B wing and Gold Leader!

Both speeders look great......hell I would be happy to come up
with something nice that was half as good! LOL The funny thing
is I have looked at the speeders a million times, and even though
these two are painted different.......I have seen pics where I perceived
them looking just like the way both of these finished up so.....great job!!!

I think if you can paint it the way you perceived it......you have to
be happy with it. When you look at it and you get a little smile on
your face.........you know your good with it! LOL

Beautiful work, fellas, and very nice to see the two of them together. Color me envious and awed!

Thanks for all the tips about the Tamiya acrylics too. I'm messing around with them now and learning a lot, but your information really cleared a few things up for me.

Thanks David, got your mail bud

Its a constant learning curve painting these things, I'm still to paint my falcon (large scale) but can't wait as it will be a real challenge. I will document the paint up and go through what I do and why, though none of it will make sense most likely!!!

Here she is with some of my other builds at the Star Wars Fan Fun Day last week in Burnley UK, great day and was really cool to meet Peza and other RPF'ers, looking forward to next year already....bigger and better. It was interesting that the snow speeder got the most attention, I guess its the most recognised from this pile of cool junk :)
