What was Koolshade originally used for?

I got this old stereo/bar/lightshow left in my basement when I moved in. I never really looked it over, the wife hoped we could save it. well, it's gotta go, and I tried to move it and realized why it was left behind. So, yesterday, I started 'disassembling' it. today, the front mesh like pice came off, and it's a piece 2' by 3' approx. it's black and made me think of Koolshade. I'll asmit I've never seen the stuff in person, but it got me thinking, could this be a piece of koolshade? This thing obviously came from the early 70's.

Photos, please.

Koolshade was and still is a means of blocking sunlight without entirely obstruction the view through a window. They still have a website, advertising the material. I haven´t been able to find a distributor here in Germany, although I could really make us of it on building projects.

As soon as I can get my camera working, I'll shoot a pic. This was on the front of the bar. It went in 3 layers, there was the front of the bar that had a strand of basically x-mas tree C size lights. In front of those was a piece of rippled light difuser plastic, like you would see on a large shop light. then was this piece of black plastic mesh like stuff.
