What models haven't been replicated yet?

They actually put out a shuttle kit when the film hit but it wasn't very impressive at all.

That's because all Revell did was took a standard shuttle kit and stuck modified doors and wings on the thing, then added winglets and the auxilliary rocket boosters (the boosters are about the only thing useable in the kit without major rebuilding work). While the X-71s are based on shuttles, they are very different. For starters, they are longer then a standard shuttle and most everywhere on a shuttle that is slab sided, the X-71 is curved (and in a couple spots where a shuttle is curved, it is flat on the X-71).

Given that shuttles are one subject I love to build, I've had this dream of doing a proper X-71 and sticking it on an ET and SRBs on a launch pad. Even though the rest of the movie is somewhat forgettable, the launch sequence still gets my heart pumping for its great combination of film footage, model work and digital compositing.

My short list, I do not think any of them have been done but I could be wrong.

Captain Harlock’s Arcadia 1/350 Scale

The Chronicles of Riddick Necormonger Ship (the big ones with heads on them) Scaled to be 36” tall

The Lexx 1/350 Scale

The big (smile face??) Star ship from Heavy Metal (1981) 1/500 Scale

Ultraman science patrol ship 1/500 Scale

Well Crap or should I say Hell Yes?
Apparently my search for these models was not thorough enough.
Found:
Captain Harlock’s Arcadia - well its not 1/350 Scale but its fraking cool none the less, unfortunately its out of production

Captain Harlock’s Arcadia 1/350 Scale
Bandai produced two different models of the Arcadia (the green one), one in 1/1000 scale and one in 1/1600 scale. Long out of production, but they still pop up on Evilbay now and then.

Even longer out of production (and ridiculously hard to find these days) is Takara's 1/1500 scale kit of the Arcadia (the blue one). If you ever try to find one, remember it's called "Alcadia" on the box. :rolleyes

Pretty confident you won't find a 1/350 Lexx. Lexx is what - ten miles long? - so the model would be 45 metres in length. :D

NecROmonger, btw.

I've been working on plans for a studio scale Liberator from Blake's 7. It has alway's been my favourite ship , I had a tiny corgi metal one in the eighties and decided only recently that it would be my first scratch build as there just ain't any kits out there.

I wanna see some ships from Starzinger aka Spaceketeers

The Dalorian from Back to the Future &flying version or the steam locomotive from BTTFIII.The mechanical tarantula from The Wild, Wild, West.Stupid movie, but that was the coolest thing in it.

All the Delorean variants have been done by Aoshima, including the BTTF II flying version. Doubt the locomotive will ever be done, but modelers have converted the AMT General locomotive into at least the one that was used to push the Delorean in III and I am sure somebody has at least considered turning one into Doc Brown's time machine.

Since a new CGI Harlock movie is coming out in Japan, I would consider a reissue of Harlock stuff and models based on the new ship highly likely within the next year.

The Starzinger ships were at least done as toys back in 1979 and they looked very good from what I recall. One could easily convert them into nice models if you can find them.

I was thinking "studio scale".I know Aoshima has made some kit oddities, but they are tiny 1/24 scale (or smaller).I now Randy Cooper made a BTTFIII Locomotive,he may have even done what you mentioned.Converted the MPC "General" locomotive and scratched the rest.

I'd like a model of the ships from the original transformers show and movie: the ark, the nemesis, the shuttles in the movie and Galvatron's ship.

I grew up watching Teknoman, and have always been in love with the Blue Earth. As a matter of fact, I think most of what I find cool stems from teknoman in some way!

It's a possibility, but I wouldn't hold my breath--the same thing was said about the possibility of a reissue of the old MPC/Disney Pirates of the Caribbean kits when the first Pirates of the Caribbean film came out...then the second...then the third. Still waiting.

Well, there is a kit, albeit small - the Comet Miniatures one, about nine or ten inches long. I'll bring mine to the December meeting if you want a gander.

I for one would like to see a resurrection ship from Battlestar galactica.Almost thinking of trying one my self.

Yes, but at the time the first Pirates came out (2003), AMT/Ertl (who owns the MPC tooling) had been purchased by Racing Champions and totally backed out of licensed kit production for Star Trek and Star Wars after losing their shirts on the lackluster sales of Phantom Menace merchandise. RC didn't know or care about what they had as they really only cared about the diecast division (Ertl) anyway. They also suffered the sting of lackluster sales from doing new kits for the Lost In Space movie in the early 1990s and many predicted that would be the start of a franchise. As such, I doubt they would ever have considered doing those reissues due to the money likely needed even to make the pitch to Disney. That is assuming the tooling for the kits was even in a state where a reissue was possible. Plus, pirate ship models or any other tall masted ship kits weren't exactly flying off the shelves when the movies came out anyway, so chances are any MPC reissues would likely have sold initially to those modelers that wanted them, then the rest would likely have sat, and sat, and sat until getting closed out for cheap prices (same as all the other stuff).

The Japanese market for Harlock by comparison is different. Bandai owns many of the molds now, even if they might not have done the kits originally and they bankroll more then a few of the anime and movie productions. Harlock is considered something of a franchise property over there. And with Yamato getting a big new model push for that film, it only stands to reason that Harlock will get some of that action too. How much though remains to be seen.
