What is the best Gold "Chrome" in a rattle can?

I used RUST-OLEUM's "Metallic" line of paints for my Indiana Jones golden Idol and I really liked it. Here is a before and after.

Too Much Garlic, that looks cool, was is plated or painted ;)
either way it matters not, good input!

You know, PHarchivist had an excellent idea for chrome.
he applied chrome mylar to a Stage 5 Arnold bust & it looked so cool.
I'm sure the same process would work on the gold.
But yes, keep them coming! examples of your best GOLD rattle can paint ups!

Yeah, maboot, I know it was not exactly what was asked about - rattle can paint - but I got the sense through reading that several were perhaps looking for that kind of look and finish - the real shiny reflective look.

We've got hundreds of these same similar threads... and the answer never gets any different. If you want that look, you're gonna have to pay for it or get it plated... ain't no such option with spray cans. Hell... even regular paint that you spray with a paint gun or airbrush is usually better than spray can paint, which tends to be overly thinned and not durable at all.

And since many check out these threads... looking for a good answer and options for a good finish, I thought I'd offer what I'd been shown and then people who felt it was what they were looking for, and not so much as a answer to the original question, can go check it out.

It is painted.

Guys, all input is welcomed & appreciated :) That's why we are here to share & learn...
keep'em coming boys!!
pix of anything you've shot or sprayed!
-Thanx

...

All you do for the killer chrome in a can is, do the chrome, use a coat or two of mirra-Clear then use the true gold candy, coat again with Mirra Clear for the most durable finish, no finger prints, very effective...Don't think you can match this...period

I think I'm gonna have to try this after Christmas. My Indy idol is solid resin... how should I prep it? I have some ultra fine sandpaper, do I smooth it out before applying the basecoat?

Well my pictures are going to have to wait as ive just got an apartment at school, and not a place to paint. I wanna try that ghost chrome on my resin J2 kit (which i havent built up yet as its a bit wonky)

Exactly, there's more then enough posts about this in the past:rolleyes. Search it. Gold/silver in a rattle can still looks like a rattle can and comes up way short then having it chromed and done the right way. Go cheap and look like meh or save/pay and have it done right. You pay what you get....

Not sure about the ultra mirrored finish you get with chrome, but Plasticote Brilliant Gold gave me the exact poured gold finish I wanted for my Blue Five Idol. This is over a coat of gloss black over a coat of primer.
