What do you think of Wonder Woman's new Look?

My guess is this was done so they could justify casting Beyonce in the movie.....

Once that movie tanks like Catwoman they'll switch it back.

This could be a move to better incorperate a live-action 'costume' that diverges from the original comis - but still is translated from the comics.
But as far as I have seen in my years reading comics, anytime a costume change is made to a popular character, the fans usually cry out and it is changed back.
Happened to Spidey, Superman, even Batman (Azrael) and Green Lantern (Kyle).
I'm guessing we will see her back to stars and stripes in no time!

Have any of the people complaining about the backstory actually read an interview with JMS about this? He's basically said that the origin rework is TEMPORARY to drive the story.

Change has to come, even if for no other reason than to make the person making the changes look like they're doing something for the money they're being paid. :lol

Honestly though i don't like it, it looks nothing like WW, if you showed a thousand people that pic tomorrow who haven't seen it before not one would guess who it was meant to be.

I don't mind the idea of her having pants, or leggings, but they could have done it without her looking like a bloody Black Canary clone. But it's Jim Lee designing the character, I'm just happy she doesn't have a dozen pouches and twice as many needless straps all over her costume.

Yeah, too derivative of other costumes and boring.
Per her old backstory, she could have added a few armor plates on the shoulders and maybe chest and back but shorts or even a skirt would be much easier to move in.
She doesn't look like an Amazon warrior but maybe this would work as her "Diana Prince" outfit?
Also agree about JMS' attitude towards previous writers, creators, etc. It's a shame, he is clearly a creative person with tremendous credits to his name. Maybe he is bitter to now be writing a story for a comic book insteaad of creating a television empire. Or something.
As nearly everyone has said, this will pass, like the death of the biggies and EVERYONE'S costume changes, eventually we'll have the issue where she digs out her old duds and decides to go back to her roots after a big butt whooping or something and she will reappear in her old costume with some slight modifications to it that will stick for another 8-10 years.

Well, I read the 600th comic and have come up with the following conclusions regarding the new costume.

GOOD
- Pants. PANTS! Sing the praises of pants!
- We still got her Golden Tiara.

BAD
- High Heels. At least they're not the focus of attention.
- Bracers. Those are not bracers, they're wrist guards I used to wear when I rollarbladed across town. Weren't the original bracers supposed to be symbolic of the Amazon's once imprisonment and how they turned those bonds of submission into tools of defense and freedom? I miss that.
- The Jacket. Not even the Terminator had a biker jacket as heavy as that one. I want something mythical, not something that I find in a Fallout game.

Still, I've read the 600th issue, and all I can say is that I'm liking it 100x more than that god awful DC animated Direct-To-Video piece of crap that dared call itself Wonder Woman. As long as they do away with that bullsh** storyline about sexism and not have Diana fall head over heals for a character like that movie's take on Steve, I'm game.

I can hear my mother now. "Always with the dark girls, oy vey. What's with the wrist covers, what is she hiding? Is she a cutter, like Jill was? You know how we felt about Jill. And what is with the lasso? Are you two doing kinky stuff? Not in MY house you don't. Tell her to wipe off some of that mascara, and that lipstick.. she looks like a *****. Why can't you bring home a NICE girl for once?"

UTAH?

:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Seriously though,

The good part: artists now have to draw WW Carmeltoe as they always enjoy. The bad part: She looks like the typical Hollywood "I'm afraid of costumes" superheroine.

They should do like one guy suggested on Yahoo. Draw her honestly. If she is an AMAZON, draw her that way! You want to boost sales? Try that!

;)

I'm going to say the following, just like how a lot of other writers, artists and fans have been saying for a long time.

DC DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO with Wonder Woman.

They just don't.

I have to give JMS credit for at least trying something different. Can anyone name a WW story arc aside from her origin? Can anyone name a WW villian? She's one of the "Big Three" at DC mostly because we're told she is, but does anyone know why other than because "DC says?"

They did the same approach 10 years ago, full costume changes and all. I'm gona try and find some for linking purposes.

I know they did the no superpowers and white body suit in like the 60s or 70s but I don't recall anything recent that completely rewrote her history and changed the costume to banal Jim Lee schlock.

Linkara has posted a very detailed blog entry regarding Wonder Woman's change, and from the quotes he's grabbed from the writers, it's more than just a outfit change thats a problem.

And even though he brings it up, here are a couple of dozen artists attempts to redesign Wonder Woman's outfit.
