How many of you buy Wonder Woman?
What do you think of Wonder Woman's new Look?

LIke a lot of folks I pick up a trade paperback from time to time over following monthly titles. "Who is Wonder Woman?" was the last one I read.
The only monthlys I am buying now are Conan and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Other characters I usually wait for some kind of positive buzz before I bite.
They did the same type of ting in the 60's and guess what - off all the people, feminist complained the most - saying she had been robbed of her femininity by a society that felt woman who were strong were also "butch" - LOL
She'll go back to her old costume and it'll be a special foil embossed, hologram, multicolored, smellovision, glow in the dark issue that the "true collector" cannot live without - We are talking about the comic industry who seem to have more gimmicks than good stories nowadays

Ha ha! But really - the swimsuit may have been slutty, or at least spicy, in the 1940s. It's about fifty years past its prime now!
The new look is a bit generic and doubtless temporary but I hope they don't go all the way back to the old look after it has its run. Maybe some compromise thing that can be touted as a return to the classic look, but isn't as bloody unflattering.
None of this would make me any more likely to read the comic, though.

excellent point, i dont buy her unless her story ties into a larger series, because as a stand alone character she's never interested me. i did read the perez fix of hers after crisis on the infinite earths and liked it.
like i mentioned before its not even fully about the costume change, she's completely forgotten every thing, either its the amnesia card, or they're completely fudging her involvement in continuity. the powers that be at dcublog are being yet again, omniously vague and ego massaging to get a solid clue.
a major point i find would be wrong to drop completely would be her snapping max lord's neck, because he just came back with the brightest day 12 crew, and made the whole world forget he ever existed, and he's suckering the old JLI into reforming.
dcublog the blog of updates right from dc, is getting a huge negative reaction to this move. its hopefully they take notice to this and forget it happened. unfortunately, that wont happen and they'll see sales drop even lower because they cant seem to keep her as a character entertaining. honestly, they(j.micheal strazynski, jim lee, didio etc) are not even reacting to the gigantic negative reaction to this, they just keep putting up more news about it.
its batman 600 all over again. thats a character i did read. and its a travesty.

I can live with it. WW will always have a place in my heart. :love She looks like an "urban" WW. They'll probably change it back within 24 months though so keep your star spangled panties on everyone.

Ok at the risk of everyones wrath....I like it and here's why. I wouldn't take the classic Wonder Woman to dinner and a movie. I'd have to explain her outfit when I brought her home to meet my Mom and Dad. This new look however, well now, I could see me picking this Wonder Woman up in my Austin Martin and going for Sushi on sunset and then to a club. I could trash talk the bouncer and she would protect me. oh yeah, and my folks would think she looks just like every other girl I went out with. :}

I need something different every now and then to keep me interested in something I'm not "ga ga" over. I agree with what others have said about the longevity of the change. She'll get her traditional outfit back before you know it.
And if you think her look hasn't had many changes, you should really look at this page - Wonder Woman costume index page 1 ...it details all of the changes that have been made to her costume over the years, and there've been plenty!

if i brought wonderwoman before her "new look" to mom and dad, i think they'd be more proud that i landed wonderwoman than that she's wearing a swim suit or bloomers. i also think they'd be more inclined to ask her about her "new look", instead of her old one.

Nothing with that outfit or physique spells AMAZONIAN. Never did like the original costume. Made her look like a hooker. A more proper outfit you could actually use to fight criminals would be better and at the same time tell something about her heritage... but this is just... meh. Clearly designed by a man with no fashion sense.

Here's how to modernize the look.
This picture is from tvguide.com, and shows a number of females who appeared on American Gladiators. This represents a modern, feminine, yet kick-ass look.
Not a big stretch to change the coloring on the costumes, but otherwise keep the stylings. I am partial to the third gal from the right, in the blue and black bodysuit. I can see this easily being adapted to Wonder Woman colors and adding the gold bodice trim, while not looking in the least bit slutty or revealing more skin than necessary.
This is a closer look at Gina Carano, an MMA star whose outfit I could see easily adapted to a "modern" take on Wonder Woman. Change the white on the bottoms to a lighter shade of blue, get a dark red on the top, and add some traditional gold highlights on the corset-like part.

Now THAT's an AMAZONIAN body shape. Not that fish stick figure above. And I agree. The outfit could work if changed just a tiny bit.

angry street fighter, yeah right. JMS should be very careful with trying to put his stamp on, he might get booted and hated from many many comic and WW fans.
