WETA: District 9 Guns

From Weta:

In terms of timing, we are already well down the path of production with these full size replicas. We hope to ship them towards the end of Q2. We will keep you updated in our newsletters.

oh man... that is so tempting with tax returns coming soon... graraaraaaa, can i pay in cat food?

dang, im still on the fence about pre ordering the gun, i really liked the look of the first gun Wickus uses inside the gangsters hide out to blow away the thugs. i dont even know the name of the gun but it was white and had heat coming from the barrel. it was beautiful....what do u guys think?

i'd hate to order the gun, and a week later something even more awesome comes out and im assed out.

They have announced that they will only make 200. If they pull a Sideshow and change that to a higher number before they deliver I'm going to cancel.
If they offer a "second chance" ala Sideshow once these are sold out I'm going to be VERY upset! :angry

I would say go ahead and place the order, you could always cancel if you want but chances are it will be a while before we hear of other guns. They will more than likely get this run done and over with already.

Grabbed mine earlier today, good price for UK buyers for a change. Didn't go for the gas gun though. Best look for somewhere new to live when the wife sees it. :unsure

:cry:cry My wife will definately move me into the shed if i ordered one of these , they look awesome too from the pics ,will have to try and make my own. :confused
Thought they would have done the christopher gun instead of the gas thrower ,but maybe that will follow, still a cool design though. Gonna be avoiding this thread now when you all start showing yours off :angry

I'm curious why you feel this way ... because you would rather have waited to purchase it if you had known the edition size didn't matter? Or you want top value should you decide to resell it?

Smaller edition size means it is more likely to retain its value or increase in value. It also makes it more special in the eyes of collectors as they will be members of a group of a select few who own one. It is cool to say I own #__ of ___ IN THE WORLD!

For me it's psychology. I have fooled myself into believing that all of my prop purchases are investments. :lol
Seriously, wouldn't it be nice to know that I can buy something I like and if I need to I can sell it later for a few bucks more? I normally would not have spent this much on a prop, so yes, I'm hoping it will appreciate. If it were limited to, say, 2,000 I wouldn't have bought it.

I plan on buying any full size gun from this flick they put out.

EXACTLY! This is excellent, I hope these replicas live up to expectations. Just pre-ordered both and can hardly wait for them to offer more.

BTW, someone asked about how the pre-orders work - Well, they won't charge your card until they actually ship, so that might make it easier for some. If they're really going to limit the run to 200 of each, I can't see these lasting too long.

I held out as long as I could...which turned out to be nearly a whole day:lol

Pre-ordered the Gas Projector, as I prefer it to the Arc.

Orderered...

God, my wife will kill me ;-)

God, my girlfiend will kill me :lol

Actually she's really cool about my propping ways, but since I aleady own the foam one that the guy on Ehow built, there's no way I'm gonna tell her about this, especially while we are trying to save to go on holiday :unsure

Think I'll just swap it out with the foam one, and hope she doesn't notice the difference :angel

In a way I'm kinda glad the other one isn't the assault gun, the temptation isn't really there for the gas gun.

I still think it's an odd choice...very little screen time, and the most unnappealing design of all the weapons, to my eyes.

If they are doing more props, I'd personally sooner see the cylinder done before another gun, or we'll have to get a bigger house...

*sigh* I preordered one Arc Generator as well.

Thanks RPFers for making these kinds of threads! I would have totally missed it otherwise.

On a side note, I was making the 1:1 scale Arcgen papermodel in my spare time. The gun is huge! I'll post pix in a new thread once I get along far enough.
