Westworld (HBO)

I just took that scene in the finale as that unique copy of Dolores is dead. Keep in mind, there is a copy of Dolores in the Hale body. We also know a copy of her personality was also in a Musashi body So the Dolores we see in the trailer is another copy, but we don't know where her alligencies lie or her opinion on Humanity is. To me, it's not that different from Battlestar Galactica with the Cylons. Each Model Six (Tricia Helfer) Cylon are unique, not in physical appearance, but in their personalities that they feel distinct from one another. For the Model 8s (Grace Park), Boomer and Athena both act slightly different from the rest of their models, in addition to acting differently from one another. So, who knows if the Dolores we see is going to be a friend or a foe, and whom she will be that to.
I really wish I had the time to rewatch Galactica.. They took an idea and just made it so bloody good.

I’m glad you said that, because I thought it was just me. I ended up watching the entire season with subtitles on because I felt like I could never hear the dialogue.
Same..
I watched it on Sky Atlantic and sometimes it was appalling.. Then again Sky likes to compress their signals so maybe that was part of the problem..

This comes back this week, and I don’t have any idea if I really even care. This article really sums up my feelings well.
Yeah, I made it through season 3, but it cured me of any desire to watch season 4. Here’s an excellent précis of everything wrong with S3 by pretty much the only reviewer whose judgment I trust anymore:

I decided to try out the first episode and it wasn't too bad and they had one really nice surprise. But it still isn't Westworld as far as I'm concerned, that ship sailed at the end of the 2nd season.

I loved it. It's like they took a step back from last season, smaller scale. Which I think was for the better. In season 3 it didn't seem like they actually wanted to do the uprising/war. The whole thing was there and gone in 10 minutes. I also don't think a Terminator-style war is very "Westworld". It's not that kind of show. Whenever they do that kind of stuff (in season 2 and 3), it's always the weakest storylines in the show.

Really interested in the new Dolores (Christine now). She's going through loops just like Dolores in season 1 did. And those video game stories she keeps writing, they were all just tweaks on her farm life inside Westworld. I want to see where they take that.

Bummed that Bernard wasn't in episode 1. Where they left him off in the last season was the biggest question I wanted to see answered.

Im a bit bummed that season 4 started 8 years later and everything is shiny again. I hope they flash back on how the war was won and what they did with the renegade hosts. It’s mentioned “all the robots are scrap metal now”.

I thought it was boring. I'm not into it yet, feels like they may be setting up a rehash of season 1 self discovery and I've already seen that once. The weird thing is I remember season 1 really well but I hardly remember anything from season 2 and 3.

Yeah I don’t know what the show is about anymore…I was surprised they filmed on the high line, havent walked through there yet but I would have liked to have been an extra for a day. Other than that, this should be the last season.

Sad, but true. I also think Covid was the equivalent of the ‘07-‘08 writer’s strike to many-a-show

Yeah all these breaks in production. At least stranger things made it through even though it feels like a time jump to me with all the actors getting older than planned.

will watch for the man in black, but not invested in this series anymore

Okay I watched it.

I really enjoyed it. I thought moving the timeline forward was a good idea, as it allows us to kind of separate ourselves from Season 3, and kind of reboot a bit if you will.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

The story SEEMED relatively coherent. Almost linear. Which knowing this show, that’s going to end up not being the case at all.

Like, I could very easily see Christina’s story taking place earlier than Caleb. Maeve, and William’s. I could see the reveal being that Christina ends up being an early writer for Westworld, and kind of writes herself into the story, giving us a reason why there’s a host that looks just like her and…well…Teddy.

I really hope that’s not the case. I’d love to see a fairly coherent and tightly knit narrative this season.

A few side notes.

Production design remains, in my opinion, unmatched. The show is GORGEOUS.

The soundtrack is always excellent. That instrumental of Lana Del Ray’s “Video Games” at the end of the episode was perfect.

I liked how we saw Christina in a “loop.” Whether she’s a host or not, that was a good callback to Dolores in season 1.
