Were the original Vader Tusks identified?

What the title says - the only reason I ask is because I was at an antique store and find a little tripod, and the feet were very close to the tusks... but if they've already been identified, then nevermind.

There is the one on display at the LA Science Center.

This is from a commercial shoot a couple years back. Don Bies told us it was an original OT helmet as the Don Post touring helmet had an unfortunate mishap just days before.

Why thank you. Forgive my ignorance - did the tusks have rounded tips in the whole OT? I thought it had changed from movie to movie... or was it only in ROTS that we saw pointed ones?

I know about this much (----) about Vader but some here I suspect think of the character at very intament moments so they know about changes in the outfit very well.

The tusks started out with rounded tips in ANH and ended up being pointed in ESB/ROTJ.
As far as I know, they've never been positively identified.

My theory is that they are vintage leather studs. There are modern ones out there now available at Tandy that look relatively similar to the anh ones.

I'll have to go back and check out the tripod I saw (and maybe snag a pic). I know what I saw wasnt the right exact thing, but they seemed very close. They were definately the right size. It would go along with the long list of camera related items being used for props...

I think 'bigbaddaddyvader' a member here has a set of original tusks.

Seeing as the paint scheme is reversed, I'd question the "original OT helmet" thing. ;)

Don repainted helmets in the early 90's if I recall. With the dome off, it matched what I have seen from ROTJ behind the scenes pics. If you see him, ask him then ask him about Star Tours and what items are real there. Its kind of shocking at first but makes sense.

As Gino said, the tusks were rounded in ANH and pointed in ROTJ, the ESB tusks seem to be pointed as well, at least to a degree but perhaps with bullet shaped tips and not definite points??

Myself and others here have screen accurate ROTS tusks from Lan Jenn, extremely cool as tusks he made were used in the film.

Yep...

I'm actually the guy that supplied the tusks to ILM for ROTS...And I have the check to prove it :D

I contacted a friend of mine (Lan Jenn) and he got me the parts pretty quickly...At the time I could not even tell him what they were for...

In fact, he didn't know until after the movie came out...hehehe

His tusks were used specifically on the new "reveal" helmet that is clearly seen in closeup during the scene where the mask descends and locks onto Anakins face...

To my knowledge that's the only one of the ROTS helmets that they were used on, and that particular helmet is now part of the touring Star Wars Exhibit that just opened in California...

Just a little FYI...
