Went to see Dark Knight at the cinema for the first time.

So I didn't get to see TDK when it came onto the big screen all those years ago but my local cinema was doing a Batman run so I went to see it again Saturday. Still blown away and seeing it the way it was meant to be seen was amazing. Obviously being a Heath Joker fan I got goosebumps when he removed the mask at the start.

Another one of my bucket list!

I'm glad you finally got to see it! It's so much better in a theater, especially if they have the sound system cranked up. There are so many little details (and little bits of dialog) that are easier to catch/comprehend in the large format.

The first time I saw the Dark Knight in the theater, it was a terrible experience. It was crowded and the fan boys were out in force. It actually tainted my view of the film.

Last year, AMC screened it for a week seemingly randomly (although it might've been around this time for the Batman anniversary). I had the complete opposite experience. No hype, no fan boys, no crowds. It felt like I was just catching a random movie. It was fantastic. It really is such a great movie and seeing its wonderful cinematography on the big screen was a treat.

I saw it in a normal theater, and again in IMAX back in 2008....but man, that feels like such an odd memory, like one of those memories from like 30+ years ago.
I would totally love to catch this in theaters again, especially IMAX.

I saw it in a theater right when it opened. Less than halfway through the show I already knew I was watching a future classic. You could just feel it.

I had the exact same experience. I remember seeing a teaser picture of Batman with the Joker in the interrogation room shortly before the movie opened and my friend saw the same. We both agreed that if that scene ended up in the film, it could possibly be a benchmark by which other Batman films would be judged. When we went to see it in the theater together opening day there were multiple points during the screening where we looked at one another and knew that this was beyond anything we could have hoped for.

For all of the hype around the movie, it honestly lived up to it, even if that hysteria did get a bit old after a few years. That said, it's a great Batman film, but it's also a great crime drama too. With some distance from it now, it still holds up beautifully and that hype was completely warranted.

I'm glad you got to see it in theaters _Lee_ . The Dark Knight is the type of movie that reminds me why theaters exist.

Yeah it is extremely good.

IMO the Nolan-verse is not the perfect take on Batman. I have the usual complaints about it. But I think TDK is perfect at what it tried to be, which was a hybrid of a Batman flick and a serious crime drama.

Absolutely. I love the Nolan trilogy but I love the Animated series and that's my personal benchmark for what Batman can and should be. Though as far as live action interpretations? Nolan is one of the absolute best.
