Announcement Welcome to the RPF's Forum Upgrade Support Thread

Howdy Art,
The new upgrade, I don't have an opinion on one way or the other.. But I do have a question. Is there a way to stop the pic image from going to the top of the thread page? I mean if you are at the bottom of the page and then have to go all the way top to look at it and then all the way to bottom again to get back to where you were. Is there a setting that I just am over looking? Btw, Thank you for all you do and keeping the forum up and running in an age of FB it is still great to have a place of solace.

The lack of separation between post and signature is an issue. Also I am having ads show up despite being a premium member. Also, I need a dark theme.
/Edit The font is also a bit small for a >4K monitor.

Can we make Watched Threads visible even though you've already seen all the replies? I have no idea how many threads I've created or replied to, because most of them are inactive, or I've read the latest comments; but I would like to revisit them if I wanted to. I just updated one of my own threads a few minutes ago, but I can only find it if I do a manual search. It doesn't appear in any of the activity in my account, even though I do have it marked as a Watched Thread.

New junkyard orange "buy it now" button.

I can see potential issues with this unless there is a way to undo someone clicking it.
Ive not used it and there maybe steps im not seeing yet but....

1. What if i don't want to sell something to a certain member (my right). But they have already clicked buy it now. I'm hoping also ignored members can not click the button? Have i got to start a whole new listing to make it available again?

2. Someone clicks buy it now, THEN asks for specific shipping quotes for example, then does not want, have i got to start a whole new listing to make it available again?

3. Someone clicks buy it now, then i never hear from them (yes they exist).
Have i got to start a whole new listing to make it available again?

4. Someone contacts me about an item, maybe asking about specific details about shipping or whatever, someone else uses buy it now before the first guy has the info, that would piss some folk off for sure. How about a reserved button maybe?

The old way the seller had complete control over the status of their items, now anyone can throw a spanner in the works.

Again if there are steps that i have not seen then sorry for the posting.

You have to go to https://www.therpf.com/forums/watched/threads/all

The actual link is kind of hidden in some text at the top of the "Unread Watched Threads" page (tiny font size and no underlining to denote a link)

Adds have not bothered me till now. I did not have any reason to block them or anything. Now not only do they butt in posts they also duplicate. I saw the same add in a post and the the same one right below it.

If I could like this a million times.. I would!

Holy spam-fest Batman!

"Yes.... we spent the last two years working on this just to insert an ad inline..."

Nobody said that... but with all the ad non-sense.. and the repeated winks and hints about becoming an 'premium member'... it sure feels like a big push toward paying. There were plenty of ads before.. and none of them were injected into out posts. Pretty obtrusive.

Sorry. I am not understanding your question. Pic image? Can you post a screencap?

Please post a screencap of where you are seeing ads. You shouldn't see any.

New Here is a pic from the bottom of the page and it opened at the top of the page:

I'm now getting a 3 different varieties of "ADblocker" warnings. Everything from a top bar, to a popup small block of text or a complete overlay of the site which requires me to reload the page to get it to go away. The two pop up ones almost make the site unusable.

1. I'm at work and cannot disable the adblock.
2. I'm a premium member so shouldn't get getting ads anyway.

I was going to add some pictures to show what I'm talking about but it seems the option to load a file from my computer is not available anymore. It will only let me link from an outside URL. Just FYI.

As a Premium Member, you should no longer see the adblocker notice.

With regard to pictures; if you click the image link in the top bar of the reply box, you will ONLY be able to link. To upload, you need to click "Upload a File" in the lower right (below the text box). It seems counter-intuitive at first because we are so used to the other way, but this becomes second-nature very quicklyu.

red4 It took me a bit to notice it, but there is a view all watched threads button at the bottom of the unread list.
I see it now. Thanks.
Also, do Alerts still only show up for 4 hours? I often go a lot longer than that without checking TheRPF, so I might have missed a bunch of Alerts. I also don't need them to stay visible after I've viewed them. I don't really understand the decisions being made here.

Click this link. I think that is what you are wanting.

All valid potential concerns. I don't have an answer for most of them aside from "we will see how it works." If it doesn't pan out, we can always look at other solutions.

I was a premium member but now appear not to be.. seeing ads and I do not have the banner on my profile image. Do I need to re-sign up? (sorry if that is covered somewhere and I didn't see it).

There really is nothing coy or subtle about it. Ads are what help keep the site alive, as do Premium membership... so, it is essentially one or the other. This exact approach has been in place for almost a decade now. There is no big push... just more of the same.
