Weird board problem

Have there been any changes to the board coding recently? Sometimes when I click on a thread I get this weird pop-up appears.

In fact the pop-up appeared when I used the Preview Post.

I'm using Firefox 3.0.13 on Linux.

This is generally a sign of the host server (the RPF websever) taking too long to execute the PHP script and the browser gets tired of waiting and defaults to trying to save the file rather then continue to wait for it to execute on the server...

Chances are very good it's nothing on your end, but rather the RPF's server having bad performance for one reason or another, most likely a mysql database lag since it's forum software and highly dependent on a large database...

The error really needs to be addressed by the staff by going over the servers error logs and looking at server performance...

I just did a complete update stats on the db just in case, but given how small this db actually is compared to an enterprise db I'd be surprised if it helps. I'm at work so I can't really get into the system error logs from here but I'll see what I can find later.

Well it's not like The RPF is on a dedicated server, could have been one of the other sites on the server causing the lag...

That's a good point. I wonder how many details I can get on what level of utilization is going on in the shared resources.

The host company almost always monitors the CPU usage and database usage of the clients on the server, a technical request to them with the approx time (from the original post) and they can look into it on their end and possibly narrow down the issue and let you know if it's on your end or if it was another client on the server causing issues... It also alerts them there is an issue so that they can possibly notify the other clients or disable whatever is causing the delay...
