Wed clay disaster

hey,i just separated and dissected my batman arkham knight cowl clay sculpt.and so to preserve them i wrapped them in damp paper towels.to prevent them from drying and cracking.in about half an hour i saw that the piece that had the two horns on it had cracked in half.i cant just simply put another piece of clay in the middle ,because all the pieces come together like a puzzle and if i reshape or change piece of the puzzle.it isnt going to fit in the rest of the puzzle

Aw man, that's definitely an awful situation. Though, for next time, I would suggest wrapping plastic around the damp sculpture, it keeps the moisture in, as opposed to just paper towels.

No picture? I worked a bit with the natural clay. I always covered with plastic bags to continue the work nin subsequent periods. instead, to let to dry, however I covered with plastic bags perforated here and there, so as to evaporate the water slowly. Starting with a few holes and add more if the drying is too slow.

sounds like you used plain water clay ,spray it down with a mix of water and glycerin
