Warp core replica

Hey Everybody
I am looking for any and all suggestions and ideas of how I can go about making a life size warp core from the Enterprise D. I have no clue where to begin as far as materials, lights or practically anything haha! I look forward to hear from every one of you.

Thanks,
Rogan

Well, do you live in a house with 20' ceilings, are you a carpenter, are you a master electrician, do you know anything about neon? And the list goes on and on?

If you answered no to the above questions then you need to have a more practical prop tp build!!

Not trying to throw cold water on your fire.
It would be a great thing to build/have but not practical!

I imagine you could make a single floor of it.
A little trickery could go a long way to make it appear like it goes way up and way down. Mirrors perhaps.

Good luck getting the pulsing light effect to work right in that case. It would have to use the Voyager-style dilithium-swirl core to avoid breaking the illusion.

Unless you only built a half core and mounted it on the ceiling/floor. :love

Anyway, yeah. If you seriously don't know where to start this is not the project for you.

I admire your ambition! :sleep

Even better: BURN everything in the room, and tell people you had a "warp core breach". :sleep

Yeah, not saying it can't be done just design your own!
You will still need at least a 14'x14' room 10' tall to make it look feasible!!!:)

Has anyone made a scaled replica of any of the ships warpcores ?
I thought the Enterprise Nx-01 warpcore could be made easy scaled down.
They have a behind the scenes look on how it works on one of the dvds.

I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?”

Mmm. Designed and built with imagination, the good old engineering sets certainly were unique. I curse the dumb breweries.

How about using a Christmas light-cycling device as a controller for theWarp Core. Build it in quarter-round for the corner of the room, less obtrusive that way. I have always wanted to do this, but do not have any room for it.
Good luck

Design your own warp core, that fits the space.

Ding! Winner

Perhaps you could start with a rain barrel? Most are plastic so it will be easy to cut in ports and attach other pieces. A quick Google shows 50-60 gallon barrels going for about $130 give or take $20. You might try CraigsList and see if you can find one second hand for less. Check after holiday sales for less expensive lightning rigs. Obviously Christmas is big one, but there is also a lot of "lawn decor" for Halloween. You might want to get a smoke machine for core breeches (to go along with the door and Jordi-tuck-and-roll). You might experiment with stacking plastic bowls top-to-top and bottom-to-bottom in order to make the column that goes through the core. That might look like crap, or it might work with some decent lighting. Just a make a foot or two worth and see how it looks.
