Put together one of the arms today! looking pretty neat :)

Some friends had a fun time playing around with my armor. Doesn't look as big on this guy as it does on me. Hehehe

Cut these out today for the feet! Need to think of something for the stilts now... I'm going to the hardware store later, so we'll see what I pick up. I picked up some ventilation hose for the knee joints, so that's settled. I think I should start assembling everything and do a test fitting soon. I definitely need to work on the endo skeleton.

Starting to get the feet ready! gonna work on the stilts and the shins next... I wonder if anyone can tell that I'm avoiding working on the endo.

Worked on the endo today. It's not super sturdy, but it works. I'll add some padding later to remove all the sharp metal edges.

SharkBite PEX Pipe is a cross-linked polyethylene tubing great stuff.. Heat gun shape and its sturdy...

Boots are pretty much assembled! No endo yet, but they look pretty neat if I may say so myself. They're absolutely massive, so it'll be interesting to assemble the entire thing and do a test fitting.

Today I cut out four cylindrical styrofoam pieces and put them into the shoes of the Space Marine. This will be the "stilts" of the suit. It's not as advanced as some other people's builds, but it works. Now I'll probably take a break for a few days before I keep going. Still have to do the kneepads, then I think I'll do the endo on the inside of the cod. After that, it's time to put everything together and do my first test fitting!

I don't think I need any glue or anything to hold the styrofoam blocks in place... It's such a tight fit I would have to pull with all my might to get them out anyway, so I'll just leave it as it is.

Added kneepads today. That's about it. :) Here are some pictures of the legs from the front, side and back since I realize I've mostly shown it from the front so far.

Test fitted the shoulders on the torso and noticed a few things that I need to change. I need to make the shoulders sit a bit higher, I also need to cut out the arm holes a bit for better freedom of movement and lastly I need to make the thighs a bit smaller in general. I might also make the kneepads a bit smaller. I wont have access to the armor for a few days now, so I'll have some time to think about what changes I wanna make.

I've been super sick for a while now, thus the lack of updates, but I'm feeling a bit better today and something awesome just arrived in the mail!

This was pretty much the last part that I was waiting for. Now I just need to man up and finish the rest of the armor.

Glad to see you haven't given up and are back at this. I've picked up several useful tips following your build. Keep up the good work!

From my experience with that stuff, gluing it on is a pain in the butt and I got the crap of it reeeeal quick also I wasn't able to get results I was happy with. And with out access to a sewing machine that was out of the question to sew it on. IF you get into that spot as well, they do sell a duct on amazon that has a black vinyl covering over it. Might not look as clean as fabric applied to that ducting but it does the job well for sure. Keep on keeping on dude, looking good! I'm probably going to retire my current build and start again with the knowledge I've gained from this one so far. Heres a pic of the duct I scored off amazon.

thankfully I wont have to rely on glue to hold my joints in place since I asked someone with a vast knowledge of sewing (my mom) to cover all the joints in stretchy black fabric. I've also bought a bunch of parachute buckles so everything can snap into place and easily be taken apart for transport. That vinyl stuff does look pretty swanky though! I'm sure you'll put it to good use. I think you could do some cool weathering effects with the vinyl that I can't do with fabric, so you've got one up on me there. :)

Okay, so I decided to just quickly rig the damn thing up so it was at least semi-wearable so I could get a picture of what kind of adjustments needed to be done, and OH BOY DO I HAVE MY WORK CUT OUT FOR ME. It looks like garbage right now, but it's at the very least a starting point from which I can start improving it. I think each piece on it's own is okay, but the rigging needs some serious work. Right now nothing fits the way it's supposed to, the knees are pointing inwards, the shoulders are too low I think, the helmet is just resting on the chest armor right now which makes it hard to turn your head... So many things wrong! If you guys can see anything else that needs fixing, please point it out. :)

Actually I think you've overall got it looking good. You're on the right track with the adjustments. Yours has the bulk and proportion to it that I think they need to keep it away from that skinny guy in bell-bottoms look. It's hard to scale up something that's only an inch tall and not have it look comical, but you've successfully avoided that. I'd definitely roll forward with what you have.

Thank you very much for the kind words. :) First of all I need to add another block of styrofoam to the "stilts" so I get a bit taller. I think that will make the whole thing sit a bit better overall.

I love these oversize builds! Always fascinating to see what people come up with for rigging and suspending! I ended up using a tactical support belt and shoulder harness typically used for SWAT or military application, mainly because they're pre-built for the very purpose of supporting heavy loads and spreading that load out over as much of your body as comfortably as possible. The legs are far more tricky, as you've now found out. I had the hardest time getting mine to sit straight and bend the way they're supposed to. I used a bunch of strapping and buckles in a triangular method so the legs couldn't rotate on their own but could pivot around a single point for maximum controlled movement. It's not perfect but maybe that could help straighten yours out? Dunno if you've seen Sylgian's 40K build but his technique for hanging the legs was simple and appeared to work really well. If you haven't you've gotta check it out!

I think your build is great so far! The helmet looks fantastic! Is that just caulk and plastidip? can't see the seams at all! I'm about to that point in my own build and I'm terrified i won't be able to cover up the seams as much as I'd like... Still looking for a coating/sealing method and yours looks exactly what I'm looking for.

It'll take some more tweaking and modifications but you're at a great part of the build! I'm no expert but my advise is find a problem, focus on that and fix it, then move on to the next problem. And whatever you do, don't give up! Looking forward to seeing more progress!
