Warhammer 40000 Space Marines

Very nice Chaplain helmet. I would imagine that one of the prime difficulties with 40k costumes would be the scale-up from 28mm mini to 1:1 replica, is that the case?

That tends to be one of the major problems, however the main one that is often overlooked is the weapons/hands/faces scale is different to the rest of the miniature.

I believe they call it 'hero scaling' in the business, but it's what throws most folks for a loop when they see a perfectly scaled set of armour with the weapons being slightly 'off-scale'. This can often result in people having perfectly fine scale but it being perceived as incorrect.

I just realized I've never taken a moment to post finished pics of the chaplain helmet. Here's one with the lights turned on:

The blue and gold one belongs to a friend of mine who helps out tinkering in the workshop pretty often. He painted it to match his chaos army (Night Lords if memory serves). Here's another shot of it by itself:


He painted it using the same technique I used for my pair of Blood Angels only he included a faux gold leaf effect that came out pretty cool. Here's a closeup of the strip on the nose:


Fortunately, there's still lots of life left in these molds, so I can make plenty more to paint up.

As someone who came to this forum from a 40k Cosplay background I must say I'm so impressed with the quality of work :thumbsup

I've got one of your Bolters and would love to have armor to go with it. I'm for a "human-sized" set though, the "actual" size is just too big for my purposes. I'd like to make a Space Wolves marine without a helmet...and it if it's actual sized, it would just look too funny to have my eyes peeping out above the collar! :lol

Someone can make the suits, but they can't sell them since "Space marines" are a product of GamesWorkshop.
