Hi all,

I'm looking for a little help, anyone know of any plans or good pics of "war Rocket Ajax" from Flash Gordon that they would be happy to send, i've had a look around the web but there is not alot out there.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Dan

Screen grabs from the various DVD's that are out there will be your best bet. One of the Starlog Special Editions on Special Effects contained an article with a couple of photos, but that's about it.

If I remember it, the original was along the lines of 8', though there was a much smaller (12") model used in one or two shots. There were two other War Rockets (one for Ming and one for Klytus). Since they weren't to be featured as heavily, I believe they were on the order of 3' long (I forgot who told me that.....)

Funny thing, I restored the smaller one back in 1989 for Van der Veer. Never took any photos and the place closed up just a little while later....sigh. Would have helped as I am working on one myself right now that has a tight deadline...........

Many thanks for the help so far, Yer it's 1980's movie i'm after.

Watchman, Martin Bowers site is probably some of the best reference so far I was hoping I might get lucky and someone would have some plans knocking around I've heard that Martin doesn't let out his...which is fair enough i'ts his living after all.

As you say screen grabs seem the way to go, looks like alot more planning than i first thought:unsure thing is overall it doesn't look that hard to build.......set myself up for a fall there!!

Cheers again,

Dan

Well, the shape is relatively simple, but as the saying goes, the devil is in the details.

I forgot one thing. Martin made a replica of it about 3' long for a guy who I think is a member here. It was on display at the Sci-Fi Museum in Seattle when I was up there a couple of years ago. (see fuzzy pic) Look through some of the old posts here, I think he sent some photos of it.

Thanks for that GKvfx, as you say It's all in the details.

Have had a look round and found a couple of things. Also on second look Martin Bowers site has more info than I first thought the model shown is quoated as 34 inches and there is a side view, so I can start working with that...It's not perfect but I'm further along than I was yesterday so can,t be a bad thing:)

Once again cheers for the help all,

Dan

"What do you mean...Flash...Gordon...aproaching?"

Good luck with the project and please be sure to post pics when you finish it.

Hi all,
