Anyone capable of taking a go at this? Looks like a standard zippo with laser etched BNL logo and a little rusting if i remember from the film correctly.

Might even just be a gray silk screen print. Sadly I don't even know where to get a simple lighter like that! Never had a reason to look.

Well its kinda funny, because since I got home from disney after seeing it, I have this matching Zippo lighter that was my brother's, but it needs to be re-fueled. I have been thinking of doing exactly what your asking since I noticed it. Perhaps if someone can come up with a replica BNL logo, I could size it, and print it on some adhesives? I dunno, silkscreening would probably be the best to do, but I dunno how to really do that.

As insiginificant as the lighter in the film appears, I feel it has some symbolism. I cant analyze it right now, would need to see it again, I just knew that it is symbolic

You know..actually, if there was a way to print that onto transparency paper, leaving the white letters clear, so that it will show the actual lighter's metal, so it appears to be etched onto it.

if we arent reselling them i dont think its a problem. Only problem i see is id prolly have to order a bunch of em. Im looking at a few places..

at my place of employment I also have access to a laser cutter, which may work on a zippo case, but id have to try it out to be sure.

Hmm...that would be interesting to get them laser cut onto them, but I have yet to see any laser etched items to be colorized. LOL I was actually just watching some how-to vids on silk screening..

You know what I just remembered...a local 501st member has been customizing shot glasses for members, putting names and logos in various colors using some acid based method. Im going to ask him about it. I hope it could work on metal

This should be something a lot of those little Mall stand places might be able to do. At the Little Rock mall, there is a place at the mall where they can etch any metal you have - with a photo you bring in. They usually do little flat dog tags, or things like that, but if they can do dog-tags, they can do a Zippo Lighter.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Usually they are in a stand, in the hallways in local Malls.

Hopefully someone will know. Otherwise I am just talking to myself.....
:confused

Don't have Malls here but i know what you mean yes there's some people on Ebay offer the same type of thing custom dogtags and alike.
I wouldn't worry too much about custom shops refusing to print it too much i mean i doubt many of them would have a clue what the logo is for all they know it's your logo so why tell them different :D

I can do these either using dyesublimation or a heat transfer. Were any he had in his big stash of lighters new looking or were they all well used looking? Using dyesub or heat transfers they don't "wear" well if you carry them in your pocket with a set of keys and change but will work fine for display or if you don't throw them in with something that will scratch them. I also have a friend that does laser etching on lighters etc and could do it in 1 color that would look sand blasted and "wears" as well as the lighter does, it just is more expensive.
Here is a sample I did for some of the locals.

they were all either scratched up or rusted. Id definetly want to go with the sand blasted etching.
