I don't think that cat is screen accurate (J/k, couldn't help but make the joke).

Few updates on my Rick. Managed to bloody up the shirt a bit more for a night out at my local Zombie themed club. Looks a lot better and we were fortunate enough to travel in style thanks to my mate who owns a police car :)

I happened to run across this at D*Con from a dealer called Vennture Effects. The badge was priced at $75, but I managed to talk them down to $50. I am very happy with this badge, it would seem to be the same as what Skruffy has been producing, with the only variation being that this manufacture has a non-glossy background. The dealer told me that if I were ever to buy larger number of badges that price would go down. Here are a bunch of pictures.

Sorry for the weird collage outlines, it saved time.

I'm also working on a Walking Dead costume for Halloween. My friend is going to be Rick and I had thought about doing a regular old zombie to go along with him. That was until I found a sheriff shirt and pants at a thrift store yesterday! So, I'm going to go as Leon Bassett, the sheriff walker Rick blasts in episode 1.

Here's his wiki Leon Basset (TV Series) - Walking Dead Wiki

I got a set of patches coming from eBay and will likely be ordering the CostumeBase badge/collar pin combo soon. I'll be doing the painting mod to the badge like PunisherNC did. Just need to find the belt/accessories and name badge and I'm good to go. Found a great YouTube video of some makeup techniques.

Before you paint the badge put it in a vice or use some pliers to bend the point's work a little bit at a time because the metal is weak. I was the first to do the mod, check back in the posts. I like to think that PunisherNC was inspired by mine but that would be impossible as I never posted it until later :lol

Anyone in the Ohio area by chance? I will be attending Ohio Comic Con and my friend will be rocking Michonne. Would love to meet up with some other Walking Dead costumers.

Are there parade pictures yet!? I didn't get to go because of work. But I'd love to see some Walking Dead crowds are D*C. I'm still yet to find a photo of my costume and the photographer that got some for me has I think over 50 shoots to process, so it will be a while. I did get to talk to someone from AMC. I heard they were stopping Walking Dead costumers all weekend and saying 'thank you.' That's pretty sweet of them :D

It looks like a normal swivel holster that was modified to fit that revolver. In the real world, no one carries one with a 6" barrel... I got a decent look at it in a scene or two and it looks like they cut off the end so that the barrel protrudes a couple of inches. "Normal" holsters are closed on the bottom... well, with a small hole for drainage, but the barrel should not stick out...

Thanks for clearing that up. I know nothing about law enforcement stuff except what a friend of mine who went into the field used to tell me in college... and it wasn't exactly stuff about their equipment... sooo... :D

Thanks predpaul! Did you heat it or anything before you tried bending it?

Question about buying the uniform from QM

I can't thank you guys enough for this thread. I have a quick question about buying the uniform from QuarterMaster: What are you telling them you're buying the uniform for? And, do they seem at all reluctant to sell to a non-law-enforcement officer?

They are just fine to sell to civilians. Keep in mind with the shirt that police uniform shirts are cut to fit over body armor. I ended up ordering a shirt a size smaller and it fit me much better. Your mileage may vary though.

Polyester vs. ?

There's no question that the uniforms you guys have put together from QM look GREAT, and that's absolutely what I'm going with. But, when you look at the photos of Rick Grimes, doesn't his uniform appear to be made of sometime like cotton, not the polyester that QM offers?

Barrel length

I've seen on the 'net (like at Walking Dead Wikia) that the barrel length on Rick's pistol is 6 inches, and I've also seen (like at Walking Dead Theatre) that it is 8 inches. Do we have a definitive answer to this question? Thanks.

I'm fairly certain they used the stock QM uniform in the show... there's a a pic a few pages back of the screen-used ones from the show, and it confirmed the type of uniform and everything...

Besides, I've never heard of a cotton shirt in that style... it'd have to be custom made...

BTW here I am with Madison Lintz at Dragon*Con... I don't know if I have any good pics of me in my costume...
