Walking Dead Sheriff Uniform

Hi guys,

Have found this thread so much help for creating a Rick Grimes costume but was wondering where to find the holster that is hanging rather that right up at the belt.

Thanks

Again loving all the costumes!

Sorry to ask again but is there a specific name i need to put in for that type of holster. Really struggling to find it

Thanks in advance

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread. Its been extremely helpful in finding information I needed to make my own Rick Grimes costume! I hope to see some of you at Dragon*Con!

I believe they said it was called a Swivel Holster. They gave a name brand, but also said that particular brand couldn't be it exactly since Rick's shows the tip of the gun when its in the holster, but the brand they named did not. I found some holsters using the words "Swivel Holster"

For those attending Dragon*Con, if you are interested in marching in the parade in your Walking Dead uniforms let me know and I'll add you to my parade registration. The deadline to enter is tomorrow, I believe.

Oh man, I wish. I have to be working in the dealers hall during the parade this year. Maybe next year :D

Likewise, would loved to be in the group..but only there for Saturday and will be wearing the new Cap suit for the day

I already registered in the parade as Shane Walsh Walking Dead :unsure, hopefully I'll be positioned near you Skruffy. Hope to see you there!

I'm not sure how many girls Crossplay Rick Grimes at Dragon*Con! But if you see one, it might be me and I'd love to meet any one of you! Like I said before, the information you've provided in this thread has made me so happy. I've been watching it for months. (It just took me a bit to be make the account for some reason... probably because I'm a lurker...)

Hi All great thread have been looking at the shirt on the quartermaster site and a few others. It is easy enough to buy it seems but with the shipping to the uk it is working out at about £60 not sure what that is in dollars any ideas to get it cheaper?

Think it's the best place. I'm gettin most of my costume from them which will push the postage up even more but im sure its gonna be worth it.

It looks like a normal swivel holster that was modified to fit that revolver. In the real world, no one carries one with a 6" barrel... I got a decent look at it in a scene or two and it looks like they cut off the end so that the barrel protrudes a couple of inches. "Normal" holsters are closed on the bottom... well, with a small hole for drainage, but the barrel should not stick out...

So, I think I may do a rush WD Deputy costume for D*C after all... gonna run down to Quartermaster on Monday and grab the shirt and pants. I already have the patches and badges... likely won't have a hat or the proper boots, but what the heck. Have to dig through my spare duty gear box and see what I can put together for a rig... I have an old swivel holster from my security days when I carried a .357, and the speedloader pouch... does anyone know what else Rick has on his belt? I think one handcuff case, and a radio swivel clip... anything else? No baton or anything? How many keepers?

Wish I could get by at work with only that much gear... heh...

Finally got my badges in and customized them a bit... I love them. Obviously not 100% screen accurate, but they really get the job done

Okay, so I've decided to go ahead with a last-minute Walking Dead costume. Since I already have the badges and patches, the only big problem was the uniform... so I went down to Quartermaster and picked one up. Heh... sometimes it's nice to be in a big city! It'll be ready tomorrow, had to hem the pants and sew on the stripes, and put on the patches. I also added a badge tab, but I decided to skip the zipper since I won't be wearing this very often...

I'd ordered that airsoft pistol from the link earlier in this thread, so I had to "fix" the orange muzzle with a saw and some sandpaper.

Then, I dug through my box of old duty gear... I've gone through several of the episodes, and I've determined what kind of gear Rick has on his belt. That swivel holster with the end cut off, a stinger flashlight in a holder (or something so similar as to be indistinguishable), a single handcuff pouch, a key holder with a flap, a radio holder, and a double speedloader pouch. Note that this is pre-zombies; after he woke up he seems to have ditched the flashlight (why?) and the key holder...

So I dug through my box of junk until I found everything... had to cut off the end of my old swivel holster, but I haven't used it in decades and in the exceptionally unlikely event I ever need to carry a revolver again (they're not even authorized at work anymore), I'll use one of the non-swivel revolver holsters I have.

The only thing I couldn't find was a key holder with flap... I know I have one but I just couldn't find it. Again, it's been decades since I used it.

So, tomorrow I'll be hitting cowboy shops looking for the appropriate headgear... if I can't find one, I'll just go without.

Here's some pics of my sam browne, complete with feline assistance... mine's too big to fit in a single picture... also a close up of the pistol...

I hope I run into you at D*C, Akin! Looks great so far, especially for something you're throwing together a week before the convention with what you have on hand!

Are the grips removable from that airsoft revolver? Any idea if real wood grips would fit the handle? I'm considering going that route, but accurate wood grips are pricey!

I mainly hang out in the Whedonverse and Apocalypse Rising tracks, and I'll likely be wearing my getup during the zombie walk and zombie prom...

I'll have to check if they come off...

So, right now the hat is the only prolem I'm having. Well, aside from the boots... but I'm just gonna wear my normal duty boots anyway.

So, no one local has the right model in stock, going off of this link Bullhide 4X Kingman Western Wool Hat

But several have hats that are close and can be "shaped".

Now, I know nothing about cowboy hats... is "shaping" normal? If I order the one at that link and have it rushed, will it be good to go out of the box, or will it need to be shaped?

What do y'all use to poke a hole for the badge?

I *really* wish the baseball caps were still available... I wear those all the time already, so that'd be my choice...
