This is just an idea now and hoping maybe someone with more experience might have advice. i have a couple of old fish tanks and want to do the zombie heads in the governors house.

My thoughts was to build a light base for the tank to sit on. I already have a couple of really expensive latex pull over zombie masks that are way to hot to wear at a party so figured. I'd get a foam wig stand head to fill the mask and fill the tank with that clear diorama water stuff from the craft store. So any thoughts on the processes or a better approach? will it work? will the clear resin stuff from the craft store eat the foam head? anyway i'm not a prop builder or anything just seems like since i have most the stuff i could pull it off... i just hate to ruin my masks and fish tanks if it blows...lol again thanks for any advice

i would imagine its going to be pretty costly, not to mention heavy as hell, with that much fake water in those tanks... i dont THINK they will eat at the latex, but with that many fish tanks, make sure whatever youre putting them on is strong enough to hold all of that weight

Awesome idea, but like Berger says, it will be heavy...with real or fake water...

If you want to use resin, the hair will pose a big problem when is comes to bubbles.

you could always modify your tanks and make a thin compartment in the front to fill with water and bubbles etc, and pop the head behind it leaving it dry, un-eaten (by resin), and usable for the odd emergency zombie fest.

Also, try avoid using lights with a high UV (such as fishtank lights) as this will be detrimental to your zombie's complexion.

Wow. I would pay good money to see the pics of the faces of the first people to come over your place who have no idea you have that!

I hadn't thought of the weight. Is there another product that would work better than that diorama water? great idea just doing a panel in front. I only have a couple of tanks so not planning on doing the whole wall...lol Great suggestions with the led strip lighting, save on light base and UV fading. Since I only have 2 masks, anyone got a lead on zombie heads?

You could try those fake heads that hang from the roof, like they have at Halloween stores ,but idk if they have Zombie heads or not

i just googled "fake halloween heads" and they had one on amazon if that helps.
i would post a pic but i have know idea how to:behave

Looks like it would be in a real world setting.. In comic books you have HUGES budgets.. in your mind.

There is something called flower setting epoxy that looks like water but dries solid. You could use the other suggestion about a false wall in the front of the tank with a thin sheet of the epoxy and the head behind it. Only problem is it would be static, so no movement. But the weight would be considerably less.

Man, I hope you go through with this idea, because that would be absolutely incredible. I would love to do this one day as well, just a whole wall of Zombie heads.

Most...Epic...Decor...Design...Ever! a wall of zombie heads. definitely increases property value of a home! lol

This would be epic to see completed! I had thought of this too using those heads from the halloween stores and the idea of adding a thin border as opposed to filling a whole tank seems ideal.

You could always start with those heads and build off of them with liquid latex/etc to get a more decayed and water logged look.
