Voice changers??

Hi Guys

I'm currently building a pair of Discovery era helmets for a client who is hosting a huge party. He is using the helmets and custom made costumes to not only advertise and market the party but also to provide the entertainment on the night.

The LED matrices area all programmed up with various text files, but what he really wants is to be able to speak to people in some kind of Robot Voice in real time, so I'm looking for a voice changer solution.

Ideally he would like the voices to sound like the Vocodered voices that feature on a lot of Daft Punks music. I know that a vocoder is a complex piece of equipment, and I know what I'll never be able to recreate that exact sound, but I'm hoping there will be something available that will be close enough.

I've looked at the Vortex 2 system, contacted the guys who supplies/makes them, but he stopped replying after the 2nd email.
I've looked at some apps too, but this is not my area of expertise, and I simply don't have the time right now to start learning about sound manipulation.

Whatever system is used will need to be complete, Mic, processor and speakers, it will need to be real-time and it will need to be portable, fit inside an already cramped helmet and jacket. (Not asking for much eh?)

Does anybody hear have an ideas?
It would be great to get some solid information, time is really against us so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, it may be better suited for the Costumes section? My bad.

he has a voice core 2.0 for storm troopers and bounty hunters but he is very handy and if you shoot him an email you may be in luck

You could also check out the iRig. its an ipad /ipod microphone that has a real time effects changer app that goes with it. I plan on using it and already am testing it for my Daedric armor V2 im doing. The mic is in a big body but can be removed easily and then its less than 1cm in size and can be fitted into a helmet. The ipad or ipod can be tucked in your jacket and you can alter its effects as you want instantly. check out a few youtubes on the app.
