Earlier in December a group of British collectors (and Brandon!) travelled to the Science Museum in Paris to view the exhibit of original sci-fi props, costumes and model miniatures presented by Arnaud Grunberg of the ScienceFictionArchives.com. We were all thoroughly impressed by both the content and the quality of presentation. Please see their web site for more information and photos regarding their exhibition. If you're in Paris next year then please make the time to visit this amazing exhibition....

We've just posted up some photos from this trip on our facebook page:

Thank you to Arnaud for hosting us for an amazing day.

That's a good news, thanks for sharing..
I have planned to go back to Paris see my family in few months ; I think I will have a look by the way..

Curious as to who set up the exhibit, the gauntlets on the V uniforms are upside down. :confused

The Deckard jacket, shirt and tie look all authentic to me. Shame the 1/4 spinner (wiich is owned by a french collector) is not on the exhibit.

Amazing Stuff BTW

From memory the only replicas are the 2001 models, the Nostromo (although the bridge section is screen used), C3P0, Robby the Robot, Endosketon, Maria and Robocop. There is a huge wealth of stunning original material there and it's definitely worth a trip.

Saw this exhibition 3 weeks ago... 99% of what you can see there is screenused and/or production made.

2001 : They're replicas, expected Bowman's flight suit and the front section of the Discovery (this one came from 2010... and I was told Arnaud Grunberg owns the entire model but there was no room to display it, so they choose to just display this part !)

BLADE RUNNER : Everything is screenused. The cop hat came from Jeff Walker's collection and sold through screenused.com a few months ago. (I think Arnaud bought Deckard's pants from the last PIH auction to complete his Deckard costume)

ALIEN : I don't remember if the Narcisssus is the screenused model or not... but I know that Martin Bower has built 1 or 2 for private collectors, this one could be one of these ? The Alien displayed is a Hollywood Collectables replica. Although it was made from original molds, I was rather disappointed by that piece I must say...

There was too much to look at in an hour (that was all I got during my last trip to Paris) but I'm supposed to go back there this WE with my son... I'll try to post more when I'm back...

Fred

PS : Oh, and for those who asked, here is Arnaud Grunberg's site that opened with this exhibition... You'll find some photos and info, but keep in mind I was told only a little part of his collection currently is on display at La Cité des Sciences... Maybe something like 5% of the 1500 pieces he owns !!!

:eek

Hello,

Thank you for all the posts concerning the exhibition. As Fred as told you don't hesitate to check the website and the Facebook account of ScienceFictionArchives.com
Bellow you'll find some further explanations
What you can see in the exhibition is a part of the collection of ScienceFictionArchives.com. Arnaud Grunberg is the director of the Archives. The 1500 pieces (a little bit more in fact) are owned by the Archives.
Concerning Blade Runner, everything is screenused. The pant sold during the last Profils auction is now in the Archives (as some other stuff from this auction that you'll see in the future).
For the Narcissus, only the cockpit is original. The other parts have been destroyed during the production.

If anyone here is planning on going, would it be too much trouble to snap some closeup shots of the BTTF Gibson 345-TD? :D

I'd love to see all of these items better documented if possible. Some really amazing pieces.

Nick
