Villains Cast in new Batman Movie: "The Dark Knight Rises"

One hesitates to point out that the Nolan version of the character isn't the Batman from the comics, for fear of the whirlpool of critical dismay one might inadvertently cause to be produced amongst the unprepared.

The real shocker is...

... it´s NEVER been the Batman from the comics! :eek

The IMO most comical Batman was... the Schumacher abomination... and I don´t even know what Schumacher used as his inspiration, comics wise...

But lucky us, Frank Miller adaptions (over)compensate for lack of "werktreue" (I can´t believe that word made it into the English language...) in most comics adaptions.
And lucky us(okay, maybe not THAT lucky), a lot of directors of comics adaptions don´t care for the original, but created movies that stand for themselves, without the need to know the source material. Which is good, IMO. I never read "Men in black", love the movie(s) and the animated series.

In all seriousness... what do pictures prove about her acting skills and coming off as anything but an empty pretty doll performance? Sure she's a beauty, with big eyes and pouty lips, but she reads rather phony on screen.

That is the perfect point. No point in casting an actress who only a small fraction of people find attractive if she can't act her way out of a paper bag.

"I don't think there's a beautiful actress who ever appeared onscreen without someone believing she was also a great actress -- just as in life, if a man is enthralled by a woman's looks, he'll believe anything she tells him, because he wants to." --Mick LaSalle, film critic.

Small fraction?!? I'm going to assume that this is comedy on your part ...

A Gay Pride parade float?

The cartoons got back at him in Tales of the Dark Knight. In the Dark Knight Returns homage with the female Robin, they pass a kid named Joel standing in front of a Shoemakers, who says 'batman wears a rubber suit and the batmobile can climb walls'. They say 'sure Joel', and keep walking.

My last post in this thread was just stating that I would love to see some new villians for one, I never really commented on who these folks are - and although I have never liked Bane as a character, and do not know the actor they named for him here, I have enjoyed every version of Catwoman. And I think Anne is a good actress, stunningly beutiful, and just as important I think she can pull off the tough side needed for Selina Kyle. If you are going to re-hash a villain we have seen over and over, at least put a hot girl in a cat suit.:rolleyes

I just saw Seven Brides For Seven Brothers on TCM, with Julie Newmar as Dorcus, a goofy old west teenager. She didn't look very Catwoman-ish.
