One hesitates to point out that the Nolan version of the character isn't the Batman from the comics, for fear of the whirlpool of critical dismay one might inadvertently cause to be produced amongst the unprepared.
The real shocker is...

The IMO most comical Batman was... the Schumacher abomination... and I don´t even know what Schumacher used as his inspiration, comics wise...
But lucky us, Frank Miller adaptions (over)compensate for lack of "werktreue" (I can´t believe that word made it into the English language...) in most comics adaptions.
And lucky us(okay, maybe not THAT lucky), a lot of directors of comics adaptions don´t care for the original, but created movies that stand for themselves, without the need to know the source material. Which is good, IMO. I never read "Men in black", love the movie(s) and the animated series.
