Vikings - History Channel

Watched it last night. Very good 1st episode that aired. The Wife is awesome in it ( blonde on the left) Seems to be a good story in the making.

I am enjoying it so far, love how in depth they are going with everything; costumes, towns, hierarchy, life. I can't wait for the rest of the episodes.

I watched the first two episodes on line this week and it really looks like it's going to be a very compelling show. Everything seems to be done very well: casting, costumes, storyline, etc...and the scenery is spectacular!

That was an interesting article, Wook, about the sunstone. In the show, they show one made of wood and perhaps that is why there is so little evidence for them.

Anyway, I hope they continue to post these on the website.

(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

I saw on my xbox dashboard that at least one episode is streaming free if anyone wants to give it a try that way. I didn't look into it further though.

Although I enjoyed the first episode, I found it a little too 'PG'.

After Game of Thrones, it would have been nice to have a little more grit.

It comes off like edutainment, the sort of thing some documentaries might do where they dramatise scenes between scientific findings.

The new ep tonight was very good. I especially loved the "argument" between Lagertha and Ragnar.

The Wook

ps~How'd ya like to be the last Viking to wash your face with that bowl of water?! :lol :sick

Glad you liked it. But you should know, it was not made of wood, nor did they claim it to be made of wood in the show. Sunstones are precisely that...stones.

The Wook

this ill have to check out,
always interesting to see how they portrait vikings
hope they did a good job this time

all of the episodes are on the history channel website.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit

Also, if you are liking this, I recommend checking out Valhalla Rising on Netflix
very gritty, very gory...

One thing that killing me is that the Vikings in this show ever went to England nor ever had that style of boat?? really?..you guys have been all over the world before. I figured they were talking about North America at 1st about land to the west. plus a monk speaks your lanague..really now. Other than those things the show is very good. The king is a tard tho.

The first Viking raid on Western Europe was in Lindisfarne, in England, in 793 CE. That's what the story is about. It was made possible by the development of longboat technology.

The discovery and settlement of North America (at L'anse Aux Meadows) wasn't until around 1000-1050 CE.

So the show gets that right.

alrighty then, i guess my history on the time of them row row boat is rusty. Cool thanks for the info.

Only blacksmith in town..King has him burned / maned / killed? Not the best idea at times.
