Vibro axe again. (See post #129 - #132)

I was going to do heat shrink for mine. I don't think te cable/cord is wrapped to tightly to get the effect.
Purple dagger did you end up using heat shrink on yours? I ordered some because i know over time tape wont hold up. The heat shrink will look cleaner also. I ordered 1-1/4" and I cant even gei it on my 1_ 1/8" emt pipe. If you did get heat shrink what size did you use?

i tried it, it did not give the desired effect :(
Zorg, I have everything to get started. I'm using a 1-1/8 inch emt pipe. It looks like its 1" and 3/4 looks too small. I'm noticing a little problem with the bottom of the supermax. It looks too small for 1". Did you use a 1" pipe on yours? If so how did you fix the problem?

A 1 inch pole fitted mine.

Can you show what the issue is?

Yeah, I really wanted to stay away from pvc and have a metal pipe. The 3/4" pvc is exactly 1 inch. I'll just have to put emt inside of it to make it rigid. Thank you for your help.

i think i used a metal 1 inch curtain pole, i would not bother with plastic

edit...
"PVC will paint better. "

i think paint would adhere better to metal than PVC.....in my opinion

I got the pole. Its exactly 1". Inquisitor thanks for the suggestion. I went with a solid pole because I want it to be as screen accurate as possible. Its only for display so I won't be transporting it. I'll be building 2 of these.

Zorg, I just recieved the Yamaha part. Its an amazing print however I see that it's the wrong Yamaha part. I thought the Yamaha part was the stator cover from a tamiya xs1100 midnight special kit 1/6th scale. Do you know where I could find the right one? Other than the kit itself.

I have the kit part and castings as I previously said. I just ordered the sprue from the importers.

I just sent them an email. Did you reach them from the tamiya website?
No I contacted the importers directly, they ordered the sprue from Japan. It took a while but I was happy with the service. I'm in the UK btw

Gotcha. I'm willing to wait. I know you have the mold I just remember you saying you weren't selling any. I don't necessarily want to rebuild this thing so I'm willing to wait for accurate parts. The piece I recieved is a piece used on the Y-wing helmet.
While I'm waiting to get my hands on certain pieces I'm going to work on the blade. I noticed 2 holes at the mounting end of the template you sent. Is there a proper way to mount the blade utilizing the holes? I have an idea of how I was going to mount it but if there is a proper way to do so I'm all ears.

It was a long time ago but I think I drilled right through the pole into my blade which was bondo and plasticard. Reinforced everything with more bondo and around the opening of the hairdryer. It was pretty solid after that.
