Vault-Tec Chevrolet - Fallout Homage Project

Always been a big fan of Fallout, always liked to build weird cars... finally decided to put the two together! Never seen anyone actually do a real Fallout vehicle other than the VW Bus Bethesda made so figured why not be the first. Been at the journey for awhile so here are some pics!

This was the start! 180k mile, worn out, dirty high top conversion van that once saw duty as an ice cream truck (still had the little ice cream music horn hooked up lol) Butt ugly, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder right?

She spent a lot of time on the hoist... freshly rebuilt 4.3 engine, new brakes, shocks, exhaust, radiator, alternator, fully rebuilt suspension and now has working AC! About a month into the mechanical work, off she went to my friends garage for some bump and paint work. Converted the front end to a GMC safari front, added a push bar, some lights and some custom painted rims: (continued)

Paint went without a hitch, went with a 2014 Corvette Laguna Blue. We added a body kit and some LED headlights and tail lamps and some aftermarket wheels with oversized tires. Also got in the first shipment of Fallout related goodies:

Be wary of using that radioactive placard. Depending on local/state/federal law, you could find yourself in hot water if you use it on the outside of the vehicle.

Plans are to affix it to the exterior rear, but the only limitations I have found is for the Yellow III placard, not this one. If you know something I don't definitely clue me in!

Having a custom front and rear roof rack fabricated and powder coated for additional lighting...

Also time to start the fun task of gutting and re-doing the interior. The old seats and carpet were wrecked, so its a complete do-over in there. For fun I am replacing the 4 captains chairs with air suspension bucket seats from a semi truck. Will be installing an air tank and compressor under the floor to feed them.

Began the painstaking task of reupholstering the interior.. man what a pain! Also got the custom front and rear roof racks installed and some additional exterior work done:

Let there be light! Wanted to give it kind of an industrial kind of look, so I added on 4 mini LED light pods on the rear rack. Also started design of the twin FatMan mobile launchers, one to be installed on each side of the wrap around rear rack.

So the horrible job of gutting the entire interior is now complete, been adding in Dynamat everywhere and reupholstering everything. Today i'm fabricating the brackets to install the front air-ride bucket seats and hopefully getting them bolted in. Best of all, I commission a good friend of mine to construct me a Vault Boy hand puppet and began construction of my X13 Government Issue Puppet Ration crate to install in the van. Hopefully those of you who know what Vault 77 is find this as hilarious as I do...

19 years worth of crust and critters built up under this carpet... yecch! Finally got all the nasty out, sound deadener installed and new carpet going in! Also fabricating the mounting brackets for the new front bucket seats... feels like some progress inside for once!

Interior has been sloooow going. Biggest part of the job by far! We got dynamat applied everywhere and finally got the side walls and headliner back in. Also have the new center console and seats installed and have started wrapping all the old wood with carbon fiber vinyl.

I completely approve of this...as long as you promise to finish the Death Race truck next. :)

Yeah I know right? Lol! This definately sidetracked me a bit... ultimately it was all worthwhile because I made two contacts who are going to help me make the Deathrace truck even more epic! Got a local contact who is going to help me fab a bunch of the armor out of aluminum to save weight, plus also found a completely wicked crazy way to make the guns replicate live fire... I should be getting started back on it within the next couple of weeks.
