Valerian Spaceship?

Hi all,

I've been around and about here for a while now and I've seen loads of spectacular spaceship builds. Hugely entertaining, I must say!

I wonder, has anyone ever built the spaceship from the French comic Valerian? Valerian (in Wikipedia) has a lot of similarities to Star Wars, their worlds are not that far off each other, as seen in this post, and I think the spaceship (Astroship, the XB982) with all the greeblies and stuff should translate quite well to physical form.

Every now and then there are rumors on turning Valerian into a movie, the one from June 2012 with Luc Besson helming is a promising one. I hope it's happening because I liked the vibe on the 5th Element, which, of course, borrowed a lot from Valerian.

Anyway, if you know about a Valerian build, I sure would like to know about it, too.

Cheers,
Vesa

This ship is in my never ending list of projects to do one day ;)

Never seen it in physical model, but in 3D and Lego (and maybe a papercraft, but I am not 100% sure).

After a quick search, I found the lego :
Brickshelf Gallery - le vaisseau de Valerian - un agent spatio-temporel - une BD francaise de Mezieres et Christin - Dargaud ed

For the 3D, I only found this one, for a game it seems
Site de la communauté francophone Orbiter - XB982 VALERIAN & LAURELINE v2

For note : Jean-Claude Mézières, the illustrator of this comics, worked on Besson 5th Element movie, and designed Corben flying taxi.
Jean "Moebius" Giraud also worked with him on this movie.

Oo, that Lego ship is nice, never seen it before. Thanks!

I always thought it was a genious move from the filmmakers to hire Mézières, and Giraud of course, for the 5th Element. The models from that film have been up in RPF earlier.
