Exactly. If you want to reshoot the entire sequence... I still think it won't "fit" with the rest of the film, but at least it'd hold together for the scene.
But taking sequences and modifying them for insertion into the existing film...it just doesn't work. It feels "put on."
I have this same problem with the "special editions." Doing things like erasing garbage mattes and cleaning up some of the sabre f/x is relatively minimal. But consider the intro to Mos Eisley from the Special Editions. The whole point of it is to draw attention to the fact that LOOK IT'S DIFFERENT NOW!!!!! WE EMBIGGENED THE F/X WITH MORE STUFF BECAUSE WE CAN!!! It takes an otherwise coherent piece of cinema and shoves some new visual in your face which does nothing to actually enhance the story.
The same is true of the re-added ANH Jabba sequence. That scene literally repeats lines from the Greedo scene. It's entirely extraneous, as is the shot of Fett looking directly at the camera. It's all there to lampshade the kewl technology that Lucas could finally use in 1997, which, sure, was remarkable back then, but now just looks stupid and like you're breaking the 4th wall.
Either do an entirely new film, or clean up technical goofs in the old one. Otherwise, leave it alone.
