Vader reveal helmet - What's inside the dome?

I've seen lots of Vader reveal helmets before, but I never thought much about the dome.
How does it attach?
Did it attach or just sit on the helmet loosely for Luke to pull off?
Does it connect to any specific detail on the top of the helmet?

I looked at the Helmet Archive - not much luck.
Nice clear pics of standard helmet mounting though.

I would think it would be a 'female' version of whatever sits on top of the faceplate? As if it 'accepts' the keys and mounting ring.

I've seen parts that have magnets that fit into each other on the underside of the domes.

No idea, but I'd expect it was fairly simple, the dome was probably just lined with a little foam and balanced on top of the scalp. There wouldn't be much point in making anything too elaborate for such a brief shot in my opinion.

These may help. The third website are of pictures taken by darth fetty, link available at "the prop den", are of the actual lid at a paris show. Credit goes to darth fetty for taking these wonderful pictures:thumbsup.

Oh, those aren't mine. Those were taken by gladus63 I believe. :)

(I took a ton of ROTS reveal pics though)

Thanks for the links. I couldn't check the Prop Den since I'm not a member, but there are still no pics of the inside of the dome.

I'm not building one - only drawing it, but I thought it was odd that there was absolutely nothing about this detail.

Yeah, we pull people through hell to let them join... beware! :lol

You're drawing the inside of a reveal dome?

OK, OK.. I'm signed up as a member now ;)
Some nice details of the RotS helmet, still no dome.

I'm doing a blueprint of Darth Vader for DK. The helmet is only part of it, but the blueprint shows everything inside and out - the dome is cut in half so I'm trying to decide what to put in the gap.

It wasn't meant to discourage you... oh wait... you joined... silly me! :lol

To my knowledge, no such picture has surfaced, presumably because the prop people didn't do anything special for the inside of the dome. At least that's what I think.

As suggested further up by someone else it would be logical to have some form of secure seal type of thing that attaches to the face - an opposite of sorts - that secures the dome to the face by vacuum and/or magnets. Basically, with no official info or pictures available I'd think you'd pretty much have free hands with what could be on the inside of the dome.

Make it look mechanical, gnarly and uncomfortable. It is simply a life-support system that has functionality over comfortability. Before the prequels, I always imagined that Anakin made his own suit and that he took pieces here and there from people he'd killed... and then finally made the face-mask as we know it instead of a more regular breathing mask. Man they wasted Anakin's decent to hell and madness... :cry

Just my thoughts.
