Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - NEW SUIT DONE Pics on p.17

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Thorssoli, Have you ever cut yourself on accident and found there's a titanium endoskeleton under there? Dude, you're a machine!! You just keep churning it out!!!

Not yet, but I suppose it's bound to happen one of these days...

...I'll admit, I giggled at the little drawn skull sticker on the current chest piece.

Me too. All the time. I'll miss it.

Today I put a lot of time adding edge trim around the ends of the arm and leg pieces. I also filled in the chest and back with foam:

It's not especially pretty, but it will keep the torso armor from rolling around or strangling the wearer once the bit wolf pack is bolted on:

I'll have the wolf pack in primer by the end of the day tomorrow. I'll also be doing some vacforming, so I'll get a chance to make the last pesky pieces of the belt so I can do final assembly on the diaper section and get that primed too. This beast is so close to finished that I can taste it.

Stay tuned...

Oooh, that trick with the foam is pretty neat. I'm going to have to use that.

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Pack assembled, primed, basecoated, and hanging in the rafters:

Grrr!

Boots still need the edges of the soles added on and then a coat of the slate blue:

I'm really starting to love the way this guy is coming together:

Even sitting on my custom rolling workstand, he's impressive:

Next up: detailing, weathering, and adding the furry bits:

Stay tuned...

Can you vacuum form me a new jaw? Mine just fell to the floor and broke! Simply awe inspiring!!

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

I'm really amazed at how fast you get stuff added to these suits.

What are the furry bits made from? It's perfect looking fur for a Destiny cosplay I have planned waaaay down the road.

Custom rolling workstand... I guess everything sounds classy when you word it like that, I want one of my own now.
Great work as always, thank you for taking us along for the ride.

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Yesterday I installed rubber edge trim to all of the openings:

Then I fitted bungee cords on either side of each of the arm holes:

Bungees hook onto loops epoxied into the pauldrons:

Then I got an appropriately bearded friend to try on the suit:

Still a bit more fine-tuning on the boots and diaper and I'll be ready to start the weathering and detailing.

Stay tuned...

Looks great . Foam was a great idea !

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

It's been too long since my last update. I apologize.

The other day I finally got around to making forms for the last few pieces of the belt:

Then I pulled a single copy in black ABS plastic:

Here's an early shot of it coming together:

This was the last part that needed to be made. After this, all that's left is strapping, painting, and weathering. That, and finishing up the wolf pelt.

In other news, I've started painting the details on the hands:

I'm especially liking the way the knife pommel came out:

Stay tuned...

Diaper is assembled and painted in its base color:

In other news, I found the paper skull the other day while I was cleaning the workshop:

I'm feeling much better now.

Still a bit of detailing and weathering to go, but this beast should be shaping up pretty soon.

Stay tuned...

Amazing amount of work! Really interesting to read and see the ongoing updates.

These are looking awesome! Great work :D

Yesterday was a kinda slow day. I didn't make much progress on any of my projects. All I managed on this one was to add the rubber edge trim to the diaper:

I should get a lot more done today. Stay tuned...

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Alright, I'm overdue for a progress update on the one-man wolf pack...

Yesterday I finally got around to starting the paintwork on the belt detail:

I also decided I needed a few smaller gemstones, so I made a single-use mold by pushing one of the big ones into a lump of clay a few times, spraying on a mold release, and pouring in some clear resin:

They still need a bit more polishing and clearcoat, but the end result isn't bad:

The photo really doesn't do them justice.

While I was waiting for them to cure, I made some headway on painting the shoulders:

So that's a start:

I can't wait to start weathering this guy so the parts will stop looking so fake and plastic.

In other news, I finally think I've got enough Grizzly bear canine castings to properly adorn the suit:

More progress to come today. Stay tuned...

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Diaper is done:

Now I just need to touch up the paint a bit and weather the whole suit. It will be done soon:

Soon...

Looking Pretty B@& *****!!! That dagger is still stunning every time I see it. Such a great trick to get it that way too!
Looking forward to weathering....
