Is it that you don't know what a vacuum pump set-up is used for? You place chemicals in it that you have had to mix, which usually incorporates air bubbles which can make inferior molds or castings. The vacuum pump causes the tiny bubbles in the mixture to expand and 'boil' out, so if you pour smoothly, you can have bubble free products. A vacuum pump is generally plumbed to a chamber in which the mixing pot (or sometimes the filled mold) is placed for 'degassing'. There are some tricks to it if you want to do the filled mold technique as the mixture will boil out of the fill hole. Vacuum is measured in 'inches' of mercury. 30" inches is basically equivalent to outer space. You need to achieve about 26-28 inches to degas well. Does that help?
