UPDATED! Lots of new Captain America pics! SPOILERS AHEAD !!!

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

I find it so funny that the character Captain America looks exactly like what Hitler thought the perfect soldier to be.

Shhh, it's supposed to be all ironical!

And it looks like he shielded himself from a monkey poo flinging fight with his shield.

I'm tired of pictures of me showing up in magazines and online with someone else's head pasted on.

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

Aww, **** yeah. This looks *awesome* so far.

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

Hope they don't spend too much time in WWII and also hope that he wears the mask. Can't stand actor egos making costume changes so they get more "face" time in superhero films.

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

Hugo as the Red Skull. That's got to be a win.

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

YUM!!!!! :love

The pics look awesome. I was already looking forward to this movie, but now I'm REALLY excited! :D

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

The EW article by Jeff Jensen says it's all in WWII. Which is awesome, because then they can start The Avengers by thawing Cap out of the ice.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited that most of the film is in WWII. Should be awesome.

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

I love that Dum-dum and the Howling Commandos are in it, too.

Re: Chris Evans - not a stunt double - in the Captain America suit

That costume does not look leather at all. Looks like a reinforced canvas, which makes sense. They are not going to throw a leather clad soldier into the mix.

Oh, I have to echo Mic...Hugo Weaving is all win.

Looks like he does have an earlier costume and shield after all!

Lovin' the canvas look of the hero uniform in the EW cover shot! So glad we're finally seeing materials other than leather and spandex for once - and it makes sense. Hope they don't abandon the look when he crosses over for the modern-day Avengers flick.

This costume looks much better than the Thor outfits that have been seen, though it does make sense that those outfits, being of an other-worldly nature, would be more fantastical.

Re: UPDATED! Lots of new Captain America pics!

Costumes and production looks fantastic. I just don't have faith on Joe Johnston, he's not that great of a director.

I agree with you on that - these pictures aren't getting me all that worked up simply because Joe Johnston (in my opinion) is horrible at period pieces. Well, let me rephrase that - The Rocketeer is a good family film - but I didn't want The Rocketeer look or feel for Captain America - and going off of these pics - it looks like that's what we're getting. Hidalgo was also poorly directed when it comes to "the thrill of yesterday" - Saving Private Ryan, Paths of Glory, Run Slient, Run Deep - heck, even U-571 would be a good look. to me this doesn't look all that different from this -

Re: UPDATED! Lots of new Captain America pics!

SPOILERS!

The article mentions that Cap does start out in the spandex suit (and WW2 shield) when he is relegated to USO duties. He throws on a leather jacket when he starts to actually participate in battles, and eventually turns to Howard Stark to make him the finished suit we see in these photos.

You can see from the pic where all the soldiers are around him the suit sticking out from under his uniform is more spandex/rubber suit stuff.
