Hey guys I painted my first piece of armor today. I've got 2 different styles and would like some advice. I painted the belt black then sponged on a silver. I was debating on whether to seal with clear plasti dip. I apologize for the crappy pics i'm using a pooper camera untill i can borrow my buddies. Any advice on how what to do better. how do you think it looks?
The pics do not do them justice but gives the general idea.

Edit: I got access to a better camera. I also tried it out going silver and wiping off the black. Let me know what you all think and which one you think looks best.

It seems that everyone else on here does the paint up the way you did... I do it just the opposite. Black base coat (primer or plasti-dip). Then the main color (silver or copper/bronze... or both). Then, I sponge on black and lightly wipe it off with a damp cloth, leaving it in all the recesses. It also gives the desired weathered streaking when you wipe it off. I don't really worry to much about sealing the armor as it really doesn't move and bend like a skin does, but I'd probably use permawet if I did. If you just want to use it as a sealer, mix it with less water so you don't get the wet look. The more water in the mix, the wetter it will look.

Looks good, I used a similar technique on my bio helmet, I also went back and sponged on a few very light patches of browns, reds and gold to give it a sort of dirty rusty vibe, it looks good

sounds about like the norm and it looks great!

i do my stuff differently because i have no patience. then again i've heard that my armor looks really "heavy". so its just a matter of preference.

-Spray with black plasti-dip
-spray with Colormax silver/alluminium
-spray with Colormax elephant gray primer, at further distance (just to cut down on the super shine that the silver has)
-spray low spots with Colormax flat black, then (quickly) dab away excess from high spots with plastic bag.
-paint 2 parts black acrylic/ 1 part water mixture on anything that looks out of place and dab away excess with Walmart bag :)
-spray with Colormax satin clear coat

once the plasti-dip dries i can do everything else without concern for dry time (of which i have NO patience) it usually takes me about 10 mins to do each piece. and so far i've only spent $4 on paints. and about $14 on plastidip.
keep up the great work!

Wow very nice!!! I like the one in 2nd picture. But all look like real metal. Very nice man.

wey hey , thats looking real good, i dont think you need to worry about how your going as you seem to be right on the button with this :D

Thanks guys. I tried some more ideas out today and found that I prefer the 2nd look with a small modification. I finished painting up the torso armor and it looks awesome! I do not have pics at the moment but I'll try to get some up in a day or two.

Thanks to everyone for the advice!
