UPDATE* BOUGHT IT -So I've been offered an old movie theatre built in the late 30s

Re: UPDATE* BOUGHT IT -So I've been offered an old movie theatre built in the late 30

This is awesome, so glad you really went ahead with this deal. You should not only take pics but blog it or something. Those artifacts are icing on the cake, you could frame some of that stuff for the lobby! Sorry to hear the local council is being douchey. It's something local councils are notorious for the world over, I guess. If you're super-rich you can buy six adjoining properties in a nice part of down, demolish them all even if they're heritage-listed and build a palace. If you're not, you can buy one and you're not even allowed to change the paint colour.

So ... four foot Jupiter II in the lobby, right?!

i wish i would had remembered you had a theater in Houston......i was there last week for a few days....

is city council giving you a hard time or is it city inspectors giving you a hard time? ......if they are inspectors then maybe going over their heads to speak with the city mayor or council members may help....if city council and mayor giving you problems then good luck.....trying to get permits and licenses maybe difficult...

starting a facebook page or website will definitely help....a historic movie theater in fullerton, ca known as the fox theatre was in the process of being torn down to be replaced by apartments....residents and people rallied up the community and held a fund raiser...they pressured city council and raised enough money to purchase it from the developer....the theater is in the long process of being restored.....

a way to avoid lines and crowds is to do reserved seating....arclight movie theaters out here do it and it works perfectly...people can show up 2-3 minutes before the movie starts and their seats are ready for them without trouble.....no lines....no crowds...no standing there for hours waiting....

theater exclusives sounds great.....maybe have exclusive movie theater posters like mondotees may help generate a fanbase and crowd

also....maybe the rpf can do a little fundraiser and donate props for your theater...maybe a little prop showcase would look nice....

congratulations on your purchase.....hopefully everything works out for you

Jet you are awesome. I'm only 3 and a half hours away down by Corpus. One question though. Will you be able to digital films in addition to 35 mm films? My kids and I make a few small things but all of our stuff is digital only. I can't afford a film camera so I just use my Sony DVD-R camera and do my editing on my home computer. If you can do digital when you are done, I'm signed up with Withoutabox.

Who left us? If JB passed away, I missed that. Please tell me you don't mean him.
