Untouchables, The (1987)

A card for Jimmy Malone from The Untouchables movie.

Now I must admit I don't know if Chicago PD used ID cards at that early date :) but this is based on a genuine early card from the late 1930s-40s.

If his birthdate is 1972 as shown, and assuming he joined the PD at around age 22, that would put Malone's first, rookie ID card with an issue date of 1994. That would be way past the era of prohibition. Card is beautiful, but I would consider redating the DOB it to reflect the correct era.

Seriously, what?

:) yep it's 1872, I figured Malone was in his late fifties in 1929-30.
The old original CPD card I saw from the late 1930s-40s just gave the birth year as the last two figures.

It looks great! One thing to note when making replicas of old style ID cards...the cards with the blanks would be printed first, then someone with a typewriter would come in and add the personnel info later...makes sense, right? But what I see happening a lot is people just use a typewriter font for the personnel info and forget that it was done by hand...which means that the lines of text aren't always straight and even with the printed card. For example on the original card above, look at the Star number, it's crooked and tilting down to the right, and the last digit appears to have been double struck with the key.

Good point, but it's easy for others to have a fiddle with these sort of files :)
There are worn and uneven typewriter fonts available for those who don't have a typewriter or don't want to use one.

Couldn't think where to put this as it doesn't warrant a new thread. Anyway this is Dennis Franz in an early cop role, Officer Joe Gilland from Chicago Story, a short lived tv series from the early 80's.
Need a better early pic of Franz :sleep
