unsuccessful movie atmospheres

One that did a good job and was a surprise given the budget was Leviathan with Peter Weller. One that did a bad job was Trek 2009 and it was the set designers I think who were trying too hard to be different.
 
I thought Trek 2009 was fantastic, until they blew it by going into a waterworks for that silly log ride.

For unsuccessful I'm going with Trancers. They tried to ape Blade Runner in the future scenes, but even that was more believable than the no-money-required scenes set in the present. (What, 1985?) Still my favorite Tim Thomerson role, though.
