Uncharted Ring Treasure chest

Today I saw someone selling their promo ring from Uncharted drakes fortune. Well it comes in a very nice little treasure chest for displaying it in. As I couldnt afford the actual ring and box (4k) I figqured I would make a replica of the box. I wanted to ask if anyone knows about making replicas of treasure chests to the last details.

It just looks like a wood box with some nailed on details. You can see the tiny nails/tacks in the pictures. Like I know I've mentioned before, if you get one of those basic wood boxes at any craft store and do some modifying, you'll be able to have something pretty close. You'll have to have some woodworking ability, but it should be easier with those pictures for reference.

(Also of note: That guy's asking price is ridiculous. The last one of those that went on eBay sold for about $150.)

Seriously!? I would so pay 150 for one of those… How long ago was that auction?

there is a steep price hike from 150 to 4 k - from what i saw its a simple $20 box and the ring can be fashioned with a mold and casted in resin pretty easily. unless he was using some ultra precious minerals to bild the ring and tacks for the box it's self then there is no reason for such an outrageous gouge

I wonder if I could replicate the ring and box and sell it for a couple thousand dollars. I guess I would have to say its a replica though which would probably decrease interest in it

Well I am now in the hunt for a treasure chest. Think I may have found a few but they will need to be modified quite a bit so Idk. Has anyone else found one similar yet?

I havent found anything yet but I might look this weekend. Could you post some pics of the ones you found?

So ive been looking on the internet but I cant find any with the latch the chest has to open it.

See, that's why I love this place. Kudos, Gary, and nice job on all of your work, especially the phurba dagger.

On that note, I was curious: A while back, I saw a slightly different Uncharted ring with the same wood box; it appeared to be more of a brighter silver instead of the duller metal finish. Were there more than one type offered during the promo giveaways?

(PS: If you happen to find a dagger too...

)

nope, not joking. If you're a fan of prop collecting (and the game), I'd hate to see you waste your time trying to make one or buy an over priced box if there's one laying around the office.

Serenity, thanks for the kudos, but I only oversaw the project. I used the services of a couple of talented propmakers to actually make the daggers. Actually, I believe both frequent the board, but I'm not sure they want to be called out, so I won't name them.

Ejg343, I'll see if we have a second one around somewhere but I make no promises. As I said, it's been quite a few years since we put those out. If I do get them for you, you have to promise that these aren't going to be put up on eBay.

OH I PROMISE!!!! I've been racking my brain now for months on how I could get a hold of one of these. Two sold on Evil bay a few weeks ago.. I was trying to buy one but I couldn't justify spending $300!!! on one... So now I was trying to make one but that's harder then I thought!!!
