Ultimate Spider-Man (Miles Morales) Suit *WIP*

Alright, so I got a pair of Tom's for my shoes I found them on clearance at Journeys for around 25 bucks, so it was a great find. Those shoes are comfortable, and have a nice shape to them as well.

I tried cutting the soles off the uppers, but when I cut my thumb with a scalpel, I said NOAP! (nothing serious, just a minor cut,, but remember to keep safety a priority!) So, I decided to do another method; the heatgun method. Considering how much tim is left before the ASM2 movie tomorrow, it would be the best move for me. It took roughly 15-20 minutes to remove the soles from uppers with the aid of a heat gun, and a pair of scissors along with gloves (for saftey!)

I actually goofed on the right foot, and burned a hole in it. With the heat gun, you have to constantly move it along the glue line in order to melt the glue, and not the shoe. Other than that, I was pleased with the outcome

As for the hole in the right shoe...uploadfromtaptalk1398909582805.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1398909601782.jpg two layers of the iron on patches and boom! problem solved.

Originally, I was going to use the soles of the toms and glue them on to the foot of the suit, but I was concerned about the traction of the sole while doing poses/acrobatics and so on, so I decided to go with aqua shoes in the end, with the uppers on the inside of the suit.

During this process, ifound out that the Toms fit so snug in the shoe, that it really doesn't need glue for it

After coloring, here's what they look like as of now

One thing that I've learnd so far, Sharpie may not be one of the best things to color in a suit with. A lot of going over the suit just so you don't have the "mark of the markers" on your suit. It bleeds through as well, so I'm not certain if the bleeding through will be temporary or not, but time will tell. Touching up the webbings before I head off to work uploadfromtaptalk1398941686917.jpg

Looking great, those shoes look like they'll fit really well with the rest of the suit. You're not going to do any puff paint are you? I would think not, if you're trying to get it all done in time for ASM2.

Ohhh noooo haha. Actually, I was contemplating on puff painting the entire suit at one point, but I don't want the paint to break off after a while, so I stuck with markers

Hey, man, nice job withe the suit. I'm doing the same one, glad to see it come out nice on print. Please post more picks of the shoes on the suit.

With the events of this weekend, I almost forgot to finish my thread!
All that is peft are the eye pieces. Frames and lenses were provided by TJack (cool guy) and as you can see, theyre hard to see into, and easy to see out in majority of lighting uploadfromtaptalk1399160013605.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1399160066763.jpg

I had the help of my sister for the most nerve-racking part. While I had the mask on, I told her to mark the placement of my eyes with a sharpie marker, so ill know where to cut the holes after doing so, I took a regular mannequin head used for wigs at a local hair shop for 4 dollars, and placed my faceshell that still had the craft foam on it in front of it just to hold its shape uploadfromtaptalk1399160188451.jpg

With my sister stretching the fabric, I used Krazy Glue to attach the lens where the craft foam was as a guide. I feard icould mess it up, but I kept a bottle of nail polish remover on standby. Nail polish remover is super glue's kryptonite. Just pour some on a toothbrush, and scrub whenever you mistake is. The acetone in the remover breaks down the super glue. Gratefully. I didnt have to use it. uploadfromtaptalk1399160594476.jpg

After applying the lenses (and compression shirt and shorts), I was teady for TASM 2! As well as free comic book day, and the strawberry festival in fort mill, SC! The suit looks great! I am working on mine. I am waiting on fabric on demand to ship my print out. How long was your turn around from the time you ordered it to received it? I am hoping I will be able to have mine completed in time for Heroes Con in Charlotte. Ultimate SpiderMan artist David Marquez will be. Are you planning on going?

Maaaaaaaaan guys, I apologize about keeping up with the thread. My old phone got busted :(
