Hey, RPF!
I'm stoked to say that I have finally started working on my Ultimate Spider-Man (Miles Morales) suit. I have always loved the comics/suit, and my love has grown to a point whereas I NEED to make this suit haha! I figure if I didn't start this thread now, I'd forget, and by time I remember, It'd be too late. Before I start, I'd like to say thanks to the Lunaman for making one of the best Spider-Man suits I have seen. The thread gave me inspiration to start this build, thank you. So, without further adooo....

I've obtained this pattern from Taylor McManus. I love the details, such as the muscle shading, as well as the brick pattern. I just had to edit the size slightly because i"m 6'1, and the suit roughly fits 5'10. I hope, and pray that all of the details are consistent once printed by the folks from FabricOnDemand. They quickly answered all of my inquiries I had about their services, so hopefully that shouldn't be a problem. Here is just a little piece of the pattern:

This will come out awesome!!!

Thanks, guys. I guess one of the most grueling parts of this is to find patience. My print hasnt came in the mail yet, so im just sitting here. Thought about making a web backpack today while waiting for my print, so I'll do that and make a seperate thread for it.

I meant to post some updates in regards to this project before I went out of town this weekend, but never got to it. Nonetheless here is the progress:

I finally received my print from Fabricondemand, and the feeling was like Christmas

There was only one small flaw within the suit. While the brick pattern is consistent in the majority of the suit, you can see it fade slightly around the forearms as well as the shoulders. When I talked to the people of FoD, the pattern didn't show due to the contrast of the print, and the printer wasn't able to pick up the pattern. It's barely noticeable without concentrating on it for a while, but I do think that it's worth mentioning.

So now I wait for it to be sewn courtesy of TrophyWife and my Universal ASM2 faceshell as well as the ASM 2 frames cast in red should be arriving by the end of this week courtesy of TJack. Excited to see how this turns out!

UPDAAAAATE!
I got these pictures from trophywife showing progress of the suit, and needless to say, I'm uber exiced to get it back and finish it.

I've went with the u-zip style intead of straight down the middle of the suit. Instead of having a detachable mask, this mask is similar to a reversable hood that zips from the back of the head. The detachable mask is great and all, but it breaks the consistency of the suit's webbings. Even in the movies, the masks are attached to the suit for action scenes, and a separate suit is used when his mask is removed in the movies (that is why they cut between scenes before his mask is removed!)

I've also requested to have zippers along the arm to roll up the sleeves of the suit when I'm wearing it under clothing, excessive use of phone, and things of that nature

Excuse me for the long post by the way. Can never get to a computer when needed haha. Hopefully this app will change that!

The suit finally came in today, and I can finally do the finishing touches. They weren't kidding when they said you have to be a contortionist in order to get in the suit. Almost dislocated my arm tryin to zip it up haha. I will upload full body shots later, but for now, I wanted to show the sleeves of the suit and how far it can be comfortably pulled back.

...I'm in love with this thing already. All that remains are the shoes, highlighting the webbing/spider with fabric marker, sticking to the dieting and workouts (hahaaaaa.) and of course, the frames and lenses. Let's goooo!

I'm currently darkening the webbings/spider of the suit. Doing this not only adds a deeper color, but it also makes certain that the webbing of the suit is a constant color while the fabric is being stretched performing Spiderman's various poses. I am using a red fine point Sharpie marker. On the spider, you can see the difference between the marked and unmarked for yourselves uploadfromtaptalk1397962745833.jpg

These pictures of clenched fists in the suit is an example of how darkening the webs can potentially benefit the overall look of the suit.

I was wondering when someone would try and tackle the new Ultimate Spiderman suit. It's a really cool design. Looks like yours is coming along great, can't wait to see the finished product.

Okay, so today I worked on the frames. I am using a red casted version of TASM 2 courtesy of TJack. I went with the larger frames out of the two provided. It gives off a comic flair that I really like. uploadfromtaptalk1398638089993.jpg

I needed to cut out a template to place on my faceshell (courtesy of TJack once again) so I decided to use craft foam and a pair of scissors to cut out the frames.

So I could better "visualize" the frames placed in front of my eyes, I placed markings of my eyes on the faceshell. I measured the height and width of my sockets just so I can see if the frames would impair my vision. It might be hard to see in the picture, but it's there. uploadfromtaptalk1398638194665.jpg

After what seemed like hours looking for "perfect" fit, it was time to bend the frames. By individually placing them on a sheet of aluminum foil and over a low burning stove for about 25 seconds, I placed them on my templates, pressing firmly until the lenses cooled.

Gotta love them sexy curves haha

While I love the red the frames were casted in, it wasn't exactly the red I was looking for. I wanted to have it closely matching the webbeings as possible with a little shine, so I decided to purchase a can of Krylon craft spray paint. Buying a separate glosser wasn't necessary either.

After several coats, I'm greatly satistied with the color. Now that it's drying, I'm going to go look for shoes for the suit before the mall closes :)
