Tywin Lannister 1:10 lord of lions bust

Hi guys, just spent the last couple of days painting a bust of the terrifying Tywin Lannister and wanted to share and maybe get some feedback.

Im used to painting ships and robots and this is my first go at realistic skin tones, shading and eyes (which was so difficult!!)

Ive used acrylics (again a first for me as I usually use enamels) and found them to be much easier to work with and mix to make my own shades, but I really don't like how quickly they dry. I'd mixed my own skin colours and when I came back to touch up the redness around the eyes it had dried so unfortunately Tywin looks a tad upset! lol

any tips on painting eyes, getting an even skin tone/correct shade or working with acrylics and making them last longer would be greatly appreciated.

in the mean time, here's my first effort with realistic skin/eyes etc

i think it looks amazing, sure the eyes are a "tad" red, like he is looking forward to his next "fix". i usually start with reds like that then add little bits of skin tone at a time to get the shade im looking for. lovely thing about paint... you can paint over paint! haha
again great work!, where did you get the bust in the first place, really nice looking.

Go to an art supply store, or if you haven't got one nearby, order online (I recommend Blick's-- google it) and buy yourself some acrylic retarder. Slows the dry time down as far as using oils if you want it to. Experiment with what levels you like. But you can really dial in your working time with this stuff.
