Let me know how you get on...

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP FINISHED see Pg

This thread title is misleading...it should read "How to make a Stormtrooper helmet for under $10 but with a million $$ worth of talent"

Great job!

Hi Atlanthia,
I just finished going through all your pages (being new to the forum, I had mistakenly only viewed page 1 of your thread previously, and hadn't seen the finished product). Fantastic job - some amazing craftmanship!

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP FINISHED see Pg

Unbelievable! I was going to post up an old junk build this morning but now I'm reconsidering; the level of talent in this is astonishing!

I have a newfound respect for what papier mache can do.

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP FINISHED see Pg

Now that your printer is fixed, I am sad I won't get to see anymore insane garbage builds. I look forward to seeing an epic Scout Trooper in the future!

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP Day 7 Deadline!

I had to reply to this message before I post about the whole helmet thing.
That guitar is stunning! To think someone just chucked it! You are a genius artist and the finish is beautiful :) I have some nice guitars but that one takes the cake!! :)
You are a pro, thank you for sharing :)

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP FINISHED see Pg

Ok, just finished reading through the whole thing and man, I am kinda blown away!

I am quite handy but I never had the time really to dedicate to something like this. I started a Pep Halo suit (because I always wanted a Storm Trooper but couldn't be doing with building a vac-forming table etc etc....) but a couple of short term house moves (with the military) later and it was damaged beyond repair. I am finding myself with more spare time these days so I have just started building a Green Ranger Dragon Dagger for a lad I know, I will follow it up with a helmet, probably in Pep because I used it before and I understand it (kinda).

Did you come up with the method for your build yourself? I noticed you had the plans but it seems like a load of inventiveness from your part! I am loving the end result!

This has been a truly inspiring thread and I am really keen to have a bash myself, could I ask where I could download those plans please?

I am already looking forward to your next build, take care and don't get washed away down in Kernow with all this rain we have been having!!

Regards.

Matt.

Well, they say necessity is the mother of invention. I say ditch the printer for good and crack on without.

Outstanding result!!

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP FINISHED see Pg

Wow, I've only just seen this but as a fellow Stormtrooper I've got to say it's amazing - it's an amazing build and even more stunning considering the cost! Hats off to you Darren for a job extremely well done!

As Mondas said, get yourself over to the UKG site if you haven't already. It would be great to have you on board and you'll have fellow TK's queing up to have a go at your TK lid for a tenner!

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP FINISHED see Pg

I... I mean, I just... I don't...
Wow.
There are times when I look at props that are made with several-thousand dollar CNC machines or equipment I can't afford. I look at them, enjoy their beauty and appreciate the hard work, but a part of me thinks, "If I had the time and resources I'm sure I could pull that off."
Then there's this. There's just no way I could pull this off. With these materials? Not with a week, not a month, not several months and a much larger budget. No way.
I am in awe. Well done.

Re: Tutorial: How to build a stormtrooper helmet for less than 10 GBP FINISHED see Pg

This is build is epic! Thank you so much for sharing, it really shows what can be made if one just puts 100 % pure dedication into it!

I think threads like this deserve their own forum because they are so much more inspiring than when people build something impressive using a massive budget. This should be filed somewhere easy to find along with other such threads that just grow in their own glory in a 'budget build' section. Anyone with me?

Can't think why you didn't use these cereal boxes. Would've cut your build time in half! :lol

Seriously tho' an amazing job!

HOLY THREAD RESURRECTION, BATMAN!!!
I must admit, that I have been a bit reticent about replying anymore to this thread, as the build is long over and I wanted to stop hogging the boards and let some of the other amazing builds have their time in the limelight. But with the response over the last 24 hours or so, it would be rude not to reply

Thank you Space Cowboy; not only for your comments, but for your stunning scale drawings that I used. Without you it would not be possible. I'd still be lidless!:lol

Please, PrimoOptimoso, post your thread!!! I nearly didn't post THIS thread for the very same reason! we ALL have something to offer on here and it's Great to share!

Now that your printer is fixed, I am sad I won't get to see anymore insane garbage builds. I look forward to seeing an epic Scout Trooper in the future!

Who says I won't be doing another build from garbage???:lol
It just takes a while to accumulate that many toilet roll tubes, if you know what I mean;)

Cheers matty! Glad you liked it! I think I put more bondo in that guitar body than I did on the helmet!!!:lol JUST KIDDING!!!

The Method for the build was made up as I went along, as is always the case:lol I may be rough, but at least I'm consistant! The drawings were done by Space Cowboy, who posted a little earlier on this very page! give him a shout and I am pretty sure he will send them to you. Oh!....that bash you were thinking of having??? 'AVE IT!!!!:lol

Thank you Bob! Glad you enjoyed it!

WOW! Thanks blackbird!! Personally, I am blown away by the fact that anyone was interested enough to just READ the thread, never mind leaving a comment!

No probs, hopefully you'll get used to it soon enough. You should just be able to see 2 main "public access" areas. Use the "Public access (off topic)" one for saying hi

Hope that helps
