Turbo laser tower pictures (in studio scale)

Here are some pics that I got from the internet. I found these after I attempted to make one with a craptastic screen cap that I had stolen from where-I don't know, but this was all I had when trying to build my own turbo laser tower. I don't remember where I got the rest of these exactly, but they're are for all to share. I found these looking for death star references. These were from a display that was touring France at the time they were taken is all I DO remember. Enjoy!:)

The first pic is the CRAPtasic screen cap that I used to make a turbo laser tower for a diorama. The second is MUCH better, and it shows the light bulbs that were used to mark where the laser beams were to come from. :cool

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! It took me forever to find these! If you are planning to use these as reference, the dimensions are 12" high by 7" 1/2 inches each way. These are for the top. The bottom is one inch wider. ( the bottom is 8"1/2 inches across)

Those are really nice pictures .. I plan on building on of these eventually, and will come very handy.

On my side, I've already cap'ed everything I could from ANH on the Turret. It's been posted in my ANH Screen Caps thread, but here they are again (click them to check them full rez, they're basically half sized here):

Thanks Turc! I hope that all who see this will use these too,as I won't be able to for a while. My next project is a TRUE 1/24 scale x-wing correctly modeled after red 5,then I'll make a red leader, then red three, and four,as red two has been done quite a few times more than I originally thought! You are the mighty Turc! I love the all the build threads you've shown so far. Are you working on any projects right now?

My pleasure Doobie!
I've paused my build as other stuff has come up in my life that needs to be taken care of.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get back on them eventually! :)

I'd really like to find out if anyone ever ID'ed the kits on this tower?!

I believe Steve Sansweet has 1 or two of the original towers from star wars.. I've seen the collection and may have some photos some where.

One of them had the motorized hook up. I'll see if I can find my picts.

Great Photos!!!!

Do you think the main base color is white? the cannons are definetely grey.

Thanks! I understand what you mean. The harsh studio lighting makes it look white, but this is in primer gray! I use Plastikote,or duplicolor sandable primer. Duplicolor is easier to use, because it has a FAR SUPERIOR spray head, and you don't have to worry so much about orange peel texture. This way you don't have to spray in into a clean soup can,and then pour it into your airbrush jar to achieve a smooth finish. You can use Plastikote, this is what I used to paint my most recent red 5 with. This just takes a little more finesse when spraying it,and a lot more patience waiting for it dry between coats. I usually spray it in four passes, and it's done! Of course,I've been doing this for twenty plus years! Duplicolor I recommend for the beginner,or for convience.

In Lorne Peterson's book, he says that there was only one made.

Thanks! That would explain why the weathering was exactly the same from screen cap,to screen cap! Everyone of these has the exact same marks in the same places.
